Thing is kids from Louisiana want to represent for their home state. SoFL kids are sell outs and have no loyalty. Can't win championships when you don't recruit like they do. Ed O has something Manny doesn't and that's his teams respect. His kids come to fight every week. He keeps his guys focused and juiced. It was a perfect storm for LSU this year. Let's see how they do when/or Brady leaves and see how they perform without a guy like Burrow at the helm.
Lol at soflo kids being sellouts imagine being in a school's backyard and they are one of the last schools to offer you a scholarship and they expect you to commit on spot just because they are ur home school and lsu actually knows how to recruit kids. Ed o is a class act even kids who go to other schools rave about how great he is. Stop making excuses for a program that isn't dedicated to winning and hasn't won anything in nearly 20 years. All the kids that on our team right now were in diapers the last time UM was relevant

Coach O is about 4-5 notches better than Manny Díaz. There is no phase of coaching (or personality) where Diaz trumps this man. Coach O gets it done

Kids respect coach O and kids love playing for him. Very few of our kids respect Diaz, because they get a sense he doesnt know what he’s doing, and because they know he’s soft.

Diaz was a video editor at ESPN and never played sports before. Meanwhile, Coach O is one of the best Dline coaches EVER and he’s one of the best recruiters to ever do it. He recruited at Miami under JJ and Erickson, AND he was the lead recruiter for Pete Carroll at USC; he recruited many of those monsters on that team. And he’s recruited a bunch of Ubermensches at LSU.

Finally, he coached under Jimmy Johnson AND Pete Carroll. He has 4 national championship rings as a coach at 3 different programs: Miami, USC (x2) and LSU.

Tell me again, how “Manny has a chance”because Coach O did it? Manny stinks and he isn’t elite at anything.

FACTS!!! Aint No Loyalty or PRIDE in South Fla its All about Bags and Self , UM coaches only only care about themselves quick to blame kids ! When adults in charge should except responsibility! Coaches should lead ,set the example , kids don't have faith in liars (MD)

Those kids in Louisiana getting paid just the same. It's not a S Fl thing. The only thing loyalty and pride might get is a hometown discount. Instead of requiring 225k, they might willing to take as 180k for the hometown team.

I completely understand why they leave because our program is in shambles. But if we get some of these kids we may not be in this position. Can't change the program if you don't get program changing talent

100 % this ^^^...SoFla try county compared to state of LA is actually a fair comparison on overall numbers, maybe quality4* ever so SLIGHTLY in favor of LA year in and year out

Even off 8 -9 seasons the HC of LSU knows if he offers 25 in state kids, he gets 12-15 of them...THAT'S WHEN THE PROGRAM IS SO-SO In top 15 type years he gets 15-17, in a year like this, he can probably get 18-20 if he wanted, maybe lose 2-3 to bama, 1 to clemson, 2 to other SEC or texas schools.

When UM hits that 8-9 win mark or lower...It's 3-5 out of 25 Sofla offers we land...When we show a pulse we may get 7-8. I don't think we'd even get 10 if we'd win 11, but 10-12 would probably be the LIMIT!

Louisiana kids are on one end of the spectrum with home state pride...Sofla is on the other...SoCal kids are a little like Sofla...Georgia (which is bigger than state of louisiana or try-county) is in between and you are offering much more than 20-25 if you want/need. Ohio is a little smaller talent pool than LA, but it's the only thing close as far as loyalty, and there's less comp. Maybe not as extreme as Louisiana, but yeah ohio kids will go to OSU at most times even when not elite.

I agree but it would help if we actually recruited and were on kids early but we aren't.

Ed O only lost to ONE FCS team in his first year as HC at LSU. Manny lost to TWO and almost THREE. But at least Miami also lost to Duke for the first CONSECUTIVE year in history and against a GARBAGE Georgia Tech team.
