The scariest thing about Manny Diaz is that he is afraid to hire assistants that have any experience. EVERY hire that he has ever made has been green.

Maybe this is because the defense he runs is unsound. Maybe it's because he never played the game himself. Or maybe it's because he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room. Either way, it seems like he doesn't want anyone on his staff who will question him or his schemes - and that is straight up HORRIBLE.

The best managers hire people who will question them and bring new ideas to the table. Manny fails at this in a colossal way. EVERY one of his hires is a green yes-man.

The only hire on the original defensive staff who had any kind of resume was Coach Kool, and Manny didn't hire him. He was brought in before Manny was. And you can bet your *** that the "mutual" parting of ways came down to Manny Diaz not wanting to work with him.

That will happen when the head guy gives you free rein. He surrounded himself with a bunch of inexperienced yes men.

Im conflicted on Diaz. i think he looked pretty good the first year here when he had better depth.
now we just lack depth. the last couple golden classes, injuries, and early departures have caught up to usplus the fact
the defense is always in a horrible position. constantly on the field and always in bad field position
 
The staph on the defensive side is an absolute slap in the tace to this fan base.

Banda? Joke corch GA at best
Patke? Joke corch intern at best
Rumph? Joke corch and epic fail recruiter, HS coach at best
Simpson? Decent but TBD

When u couple this with Mister 700 Yards Manny, how the **** do you expect us to be a championship team?

I don't buy the depth excuse. He has had three years to recruit. Depth shouldn't be an issue.

ITS YEAR THREE. What was his excuse at Texas? Why does this guy have the ultimate benefit of the doubt with some fans?

I mean Malek Young was huge blow. we have alot of young talent but the upper class are horrible.

dude i wanted butch. im ****ed at this whole staff right now so dont get it like im defending him. honestly, i rather have schiano as DC.

The defensive side of the ball hasn't recruited particularly well. We miss out on 50% of our top targets at least. Offense has been carrying the recruiting load.

We didn't plan for the potential of the DT's leaving early, when it was an area of concern on this board for at least a year prior. We only take 1 LB last year and it turns out they want to use him as a DE. It's just poor planning.

LMFAO pathetic in year three to be making the we dont have the players excuse.

Virginia Tech never has the players and fielded a top ten defense for like 2 decades. Michigan state, BC, TCU....on and on it goes of teams who have lesser talent but fielded elite defenses. Just stop.
 
The thing that ****ed me off the most is the fact we can't stop the run for sh*t.

I was one of Manny's biggest supporters, because the Turnovers created last year had a big impact on the 10 win season, but I cannot & will not defend Manny any more until this Defense plays up to its capabilities.

The insistence on playing slow footed unathletic Bobby Knowles as a Single high Deep Safety is maddening to me. The overall constant deferring to upperclassmen when you have a higher ranked young guy behind him is just plain stupid. I already bumped some of the threads lol but go & check, I was screaming all offseason Dean was gonna get worked, we needed to get Blades, Frierson, Ivey & Hall ready to go day 1.

On a personal level I got no problem with guys like Knowles, Mike Smith, etc, they're local Miami kids from around basically where I'm from, but they are not Miami caliber players. I'm sorry, they are backups who should only be in games late in 4th quarters vs teams like Bethune, FAMU, Savannah St.

We got ZERO sacks vs LSU who were missing 2 or 3 starting OL's, fckin ZERO smh. Can't get pressure & can't stop the run is unacceptable. Manny better fix it come Toledo, cause they're going to run no huddle on us all game.

Who wouldn't want Schiano as a DC? He's preeeeetty good at that. Cam Akers... I just got a chill thinking about what he might do us if the defense doesn't come around...
