Manny Diaz with a smart answer

• Diaz on the criticism from the UM fanbase in recent weeks: “I know we have to play better,” Diaz said. “Everybody should be angry. What happened last Saturday is wrong. We have to fix it. We have to get playing better and that is all that matters to me.”

Now if only our Head coach felt this way! Losing to VA and BC was bad enough but losing to Duke at home is beyond infuriating. At least to us it is but to look at Richt one would think he honestly is okay with it. There is nothing that can be done to Richt this year but if he thinks he has a life time contract with Miami (while continuing to have seasons like this one) he is in for a reality check.

While Miami's BOT and Admin are known to be patient they do have their limits. I believe if Richt continues to struggle and the fans abandon this coach (like we did with Golden) it will force a change come 2021.

I want Richt to succeed because I think he has done great things on and off the field since 2016 (setting aside this year of course) but to have a season like this one is very unacceptable. For his sake, I hope he knows that.

DUDE... Richt needs a lot of help on the scheme but you also have to understand the limitations to any scheme with the QB and Oline. It sucks.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing but this is year 3 of the MR era. How effing long does it take to get those units to be performing at even an average level?

WHy do you guys think he’s leaving? He’s home. He gets to coach great athletes. He’s making a bunch of money. And he’s the interim HC when Rickety finally gets greased.

Only way he leaves is if he gets a good HC offer.

If I’m Manny I’m ******* livid with Richt. Defense is doing their jobs.

Why should he?

Everyone who watches sees how dominate the Defense is and has allowed us not to get blown out on multiple occasions this year like we deserved too with terrible T.O's and STs play that makes you want to bang your head into your TV

If its obvious to us how good he's been its even more obvious to people who make decisions across the country

Why should he be livid? Cuz the d has kept Miami in every game this year (LSU being one exception) and the offense hasn’t done ****.

Diaz gave a valiant interview, especially when finally pressed by the weak media. But honestly, where was Richt when these tougher questions were being asked? Is he hiding out back at base camp? He should’ve been the one to take all the criticism and blame and own it like a man. Instead he makes Manny do it for him. Hopefully Diaz sees this as his audition for a HC position, and I pray to God that if he has to get one that he’s the interim HC here so we can let Richt go finally.

Lol he gets paid to "keep Miami in every game"

As the DC he can play stupid about the offensive struggles and just state facts about his unit and keeps them ready.... if anything this is making him more money for a big state school/ SEC to unload the bank on him

The problem is that until Ricky gets greased, and who knows how long that will be, Manny and the defense have to fight a one sided battle and take a beating and endure way too many 3 and punts. If some good school makes him a good offer he's gone... he can eat black beans and rice anywhere.

Watch that clip and then watch 7+ minutes of Richt post practice presser and tell me who seems more like a head coach who gives a crap and is engaged and invested in his job. Geez.

Sounded like a bunch of Al Gorlden speak.

If he thinks that kids aren't weighing in the season as a whole and the team as a whole when making their decisions then he's an idiot. I don't think he's an idiot so he's got to be lying and trying to paper over the cracks.

The recent exodus of talent from this years crootin class should be the canary in the coal mine for this staph.

because richt

Have a hard time seeing him back next year. Then we can all look forward to him naming Rumph/Patke as his replacement!!!

Please. Manny isn't going anywhere. He's right where he wants to be and knows he can have a top defense in the nation in Miami.

He also knows he'll most-likely get named head-coach-in-waiting sooner than later, if he plays his cards right. Any head coaching offer he gets elsewhere, he can parlay that into a bargaining chip with Miami and press for that title.

because richt

Yeah, unlike most knee-jerk fans, a fair bet that Manny Diaz knows Mark Richt is a good man and leader with a quality track record to prove it.

Great, he "never won the big one" at Georgia. He still turned them into a perennial contender when they were coming out of a garbage era; Dooley hanging around too long, followed by Ray Goff and Jim Donnan, who were average, at best. (Donnan had one good year; 1997).

Richt put Georgia back on the map; and did so going up against the likes of Les Miles, Urban Meyer and Nick Saban (both at LSU and Bama.)

Won the SEC twice, won the division six times and was four points and a few yards from a third SEC title and national title game appearance (2012). Also coached up two Heisman winners at Florida State and a handful of quarterback greats in Athens, but everyone wants to now act like the man forgot how the game is played. Classic revisionist history.

Man is in his third year at Miami, having taken over a program that was 60-47 from Coker's final year to Al's final game. Program was a shell of itself for 15 years before he arrived—but folks want to run him out of town because the Canes are struggling year three. Cute.

It’s his job to put a good defense on the field. If he’s worried about the offense putting him in a bad spot then he’s a loser. Just do your job.

His defense got *** raped several times last year. And they totally **** the sheets two weeks ago at BC. So, before he gets too frustrated and quits, he should first string a few really good seasons together.

He’s between the Rock and a flying banner, without his fault. He’s having to tiptoe.
