Last year and this offseason I was pretty critical of Manny Diaz. He’s continued to improve and it’s a shame to see a defense of this caliber wasted.

If Manny were to leave, do you guys understand how totally useless and incompetent the rest of the staff would be? Any and all coaching competency would be gone. Manny truly is the lone bright spot.

Problem with Manny is he has surrounded himself with his guys. Other than Simpson, what position coach would we lose?

Yeah he is the bright spot of this team but I refuse to believe this is an elite D

Our offense turning the ball over in scoring position, our punting unit can't flip position these two things are so bad, our defense isn't the reason for our record, we give up those points because offenses barley have to move the ball to score
In 2018 your offense should be able to overcome 20 points

You do realize that a 5’6” guy looks tall among a bunch of 5’1” dudes, right? He is the best among some really horrible coaches.

33 (really 26) lsu
24 Toledo
27 fsu
27 Boston college
20 duke
27 ga tech
We got problems on that side of the ball too. Our red zone defense is terrible and has been all season long

FSU was 20 (7 came on ST)

But I would advise you to look up the T.O.P per game we’ve played, avg field position the def has been in and the turn over battle. It’s a little more than just black & white. Don’t just look at the final score. Context is everything.

lol how many **** turnovers have the offense and STs had that set the defense in terrible position

If the defense wasn’t “great” we would have blow out losses and maybe 2 wins(toledo and SSU)

Think about that **** boys

Oh yeah and single handily beating UNC with 3 defensive TDs lol

Short fields ST (sucks)
Short fields Turnovers/3 and outs (offense sucks)

Defense just trying to hold on and keep us in these games. Are we elite? No, but we're not a bad defense by a long shot.

Pretty much any defensive coordinator running the 4-3 will have close to a top 25 defense with our athletes. Doesn't matter if the DC has a box of rocks for brains. Could get a D2 guy who runs a 4-3, pay him 80k, and he'd still have a top 25 defense here.

Our defense is not elite, but it is above average.

Biggest issue is a poor offense that gives the other team many scoring opportunities, and a garbage special teams that gives teams a short field.
Those two issues make our defense look worse.

That said, our defense played poorly tonight. Gotta stop the dive and deep ball to stop GT.

Manny is a average DC and the only reason our defense is statistically good is because we play in the Coastal. Any good OC would scheme Manny to death. Just like Clemson and Wisconsin did.
His *** got shxtcanned by Mack Brown. At Texas of all schools, his defense sucked. That's all you need to know about him.

I'm a stats guy, I said it last year in the offseason about why the 10 wins was fool's gold- Miami got unusually lucky with turnovers. The insane number of turnovers is what hid how bad the offense was. It was unlikely we'd repeat that. Result is what you see now.
