Manny Diaz New DC

Good hire or not, I honestly don't know enough about him, but I do know this...His Dad assisted with the destruction of our beloved home at the OB....this hire is a slap on the face to real cane fans everywhere...out of all the DC's in college football, UM had to hire Manny Diaz? Maybe Fidel Castro JR can be out next mayor.

Lmao...please define real Cane fans, TIA.

Very good lb coach and well schooled in big time coordinating. I feel good about what he'll do with this defensive staff, the type of guys we have on that side of the ball, versus the acc caliber competition we see... Good hire

4-3 attacking defense.. He excelled in steady fb programs. Mack Browns program was a sinking ship. I think he succeeds at UM under coach Richt and the staff around him.

While MSU defensive rankings improved this year under him it's concerning to see that whenever he played a team with a pulse he seemed to give up a lot of points and yards.

250+ yards rushing to LSU (Yeah, I know it's Fournette so I'll give him a semi-pass)
300+ yards passing to Jeff Driskel (Yeah....) at LA Tech
30 points, 516 total yards to Texas A&M
31 points, 235 yards rushing to Bama
50 points, QB threw for 406 yards, 7 tds, 0 int's to Arkansas
38 points, 479 total yards to Ole Miss

He took advantage of some bad offenses but also got abused by teams that had some decent offenses. It's pretty concerning.

THIS THIS THIS. His defense gets lit up any time he plays a good team. This hire is so ******* depressing man.

Love the hire guy was great everywhere but Texas. TEXAS IS STILL A DISASTER

Where was he great? I'm not seeing it.

He's never been great. Has never produced great results and his defenses have been absolutely dragged around the field many many times.

Randy Shannon would be way down my list of potential DC hires, but he's produced much better defenses than Diaz has.

What a shock, the same guys are always on point, and the mouthbreathers who don't understand anything besides if a guy looks cool and is black or cuban, love it.

Just like they did with Coley.

No its not go find another team... This could be the best day in your life and ours.

Miami is about speed and attacking defense. If you were a Miami fan you would know this.

Actually just stop being such a whining douche bag about everything Miami.

Every single paid professional mind in the game is going to love this hire. They will all say this is the one move that will get Miami back to playing Miami football and somehow your depressed. How bout you stop trying to act like your some super genius football guru and listen to people that actually know.

The only way your depressed with this hire is if your FN bipolar and on a down trip or you hate real Miami football.

However, I don't like hearing this.

Was told that Dave Aranda would be heading to #Miami if not for #LSU .

If Steele stayed at LSU, we would have had Aranda
That's why you strike fast like a cobra and don't sit around with your thumb up your ***. There was a very large window of time between the date that Richt was hired and the date that Steele left LSU. Should have locked up Brown or Aranda during that window. Instead, we get Dale' II.

Dammit Franchise et tu brute'?

I usually agree with 99% of what you say but I think youve been influenced by FullyEricht mane... Brown or Arandda? cmon mane

Vern, I was the leader of the Brown Brigade. And Paranos, of all people, was on Aranda before anyone.

At the end of the day, I would have been happy with any DC with a great track record or who had a long apprenticeship in the NFL under a guy like Wade Phillips.

I've seen Diaz get absolutely destroyed too many times to be excited by this hire. But I'm willing to give him a chance to see if he's improved a lot.

Don't lose sleep over it. He's performed well since Texas, but his track record is to find a job, make a difference, then leave for a better job. He'll be out soon enough and you can campaign for someone else in a year or two.

Legit question: If the Missouri DL coach is so special, as many here tout, why would a guy like that hook his trailer to a DC that is being painted as so bang average? Did the DL coach not have other options? Did he agree believing we would land another DC? I just dont see why a guy who has been hailed as the "best DL coach in College football" would come here when such an apparent blah DC hire was in the pipeline?

Too much of the negativity with Diaz comes from his Texas days. As apparent now, no DC could salvage that. Brown murked that team. Looking at his career post-Texas and you'll see a Diaz led defense is borderline elite to above average. My point is -- don't get caught up with the Texas #'s. Dude is a savage.

Does anyone know what, if any, changes he made to his approach after being fired at Texas?

I remember everyone at the time claiming his defense was too complicated at Texas and that he got too cute with his approach and tried to be too smart. Now I'm hearing guys saying his defense is ultra simple.

Does anyone have any real info about what he changed after his Texas abortion?
my guess would be the reads that need to be made
