You can't sell people on numbers if they can't add. Aka, half the dudes on the board.

Guy is terrible.

care to explain Aranda's numbers when facing good competition? 59-0 against ohio state a year ago? giving up 24+ points to teams like LSU, Illinois, Minnesota?

We dodged a bullet having to pay 1 million for a fraud.

AHAHAHAHAHHA OK you are not seriously celebrating us hiring Diaz instead of Aranda are you? Who needs a top 5 defense every year when you can have a pass defense that can't crack the top 30---EVER. Jesus our fans are retarded beyond belief.

I see inconsistent results that show potential to catch fire with exactly the type of aggressive, dictating style I prefer. There needs to be continued adjustment and improvement from the blemishes, but how many aggressive, 4-3 coordinators with a significant, unmarred P5 track record were really available?

As far as the stats, I see the mean as "above-average" to "good" with more outliers on the right side than the left. This is a guy with significant upside, that we know has a floor of competent (if not good enough for our level). Most of the coaches we have hired put up some of their best work in Miami.

While this hire is far from a sure thing / slam dunk, it is a very good hire with significant upside that also fits stylistically.

Great post.

ERicht, for your viewing pleasure:

Aranda 2013 notable 'great' performances:

45-0 vs UMass
48-0 vs Tennessee Tech
41-10 vs Purdue
20-7 vs Minnesota
51-3 vs Indiana

2014 season:

37-3 vs Western Illinois
37-0 vs Rutgers
52-7 vs Maryland

2015 season:

58-0 vs Miami (OH)
28-3 vs Troy
28-0 vs Hawaii
24-7 vs Purdue

His numbers are all skewed due to the horrendous competition he has faced....in all cases his team is far more talented. Now go look at the games where he played against good teams with more talent. its a different story. Completely different case with a guy like Don Brown who actually faced a ton of good offensive teams this season and still fielded a top defense.....he is someone worth crying about.

Like i said, this Aranda guy is a fraud....we dodged a bullet.

Hope Im wrong but this guy seems middle of the road to me

You are not wrong. You objectively looked at his career numbers, which are crystal clear.

Well previous year before he took over:

2009 MSU: 58/71
2010 Texas: 6/49
2013 LA Tech: 70/61
2014 MSU: 82/10

That's improvement in 6 out of the 8 from the defenses he inherited. I refuse to go bat ***** crazy. I do think Coach Kool complements what Diaz wants to be do on defense. Everybody wanted an aggressive 4-3 guy. Well, Richt just hired a guy who runs it aggressively.

He can only play the schedule he is given. And every time, he's been elite.

You want to bet that LSU has a top 10 defense next year?
