Manny Diaz Hire Revisited

Nothing if wrong with the defensive scheme. It Manny as a play caller that's the problem. He blitzes like a crazy person and he got all the bad blitzes that are poorly disguised. Oh, and his inability to coach LBs. Our LBs have probably gotten worse since being here. None make plays in the passing game and none of them are that good at run fits.

I almost forgot the guy is the one who teaches tackling in case you were wondering why we suck at tackling.
Bingo. Sometimes the best defense is just taking something away and making a team one dimensional(see LSU vs. Us) but like I said Manny calls plays like he’s trying to play 4d chess with himself and that is definitely not the way you call plays nor is it that difficult.

Btw we actually don’t miss a lot of tackles...we only missed 7 on Sunday. We used to do that in a quarter under the last staph.

I think @The Franchise called this day one and didnt like him and everyone got on chise. I may be mistaken though chise my bad if i am

I called BS on it as soon as heard we were looking at Diaz, being here in Texas i had seen alot of their games. I was thinking **** he couldnt get it done at Texas where he had 5 stars piled up like cordwood, what makes these folks think he can do it here. I watched that BYU game and just could not get over the fact Diaz could not stop em, i dont think they even attempted to pass, just lined up and ran straight ahead. Texas had had about 10 top recruiting classes in a row under Mack, they were stacked everywhere, Manny couldnt do anything with all that talent. Manny gets outsmarted waaay too much

I'm guessing Diaz DOESN'T have a " feel " for when to blitz and what not. That LSwho TD scamper was all on Diaz! And the lone Cane safety was in NO MAN'S LAND. Because he had a blocker bearing down on him, and no matter which direction the safety took, LSwho's RB was going in the opposite direction.

The same Mike Elko who Rosier & Richt abused last year? Yeah I’ll pass on him. He isn’t anything special. He has had success, he isn’t a scrub and put together some solid performances while at Wake but Manny at his best is better than him at his peak, JMO.
I’m not saying any of this to defend Manny right now because PLENTY of the stuff he does absolutely blows my mind and ****es me off tremendously, like all the ******* subbing and soft coverage at the absolute wrong times. At the end of the day though we started slow/bad last year too and ended up alright. Obviously I wanted us to hire Aranda initially too but someone beat us with big boy money so we got what we got and have to take the good with the bad. His side of the ball is the lesser of the 2 evils and it’s not even close is really what I’m trying to say ..

Too much soft coverage against the Bayou Bengals hurt Miami and gave the Bayou Bengal QB CONFIDENCE.

my wish was bud foster i can't imagine what he would do with our boys

but realistically of the choices being rumored,
i wanted aranda...... i knew when CRM couldn't close on aranda we would have issues
its not like we were bringing in a high priced OC so it was alarming that he couldn't get his top choice for DC

LSU paid Aranda a ton more $ than UM ever would.

What's so "alarming" about that?

he was paid around 1 million a year,
we didn't even sign a true OC so combine that money with what many makes and money was not the issue. CMR could not close on the man he wanted

if you look at his staff he has a bunch of yes men especially on the defensive side,

if you aren't going to recruit elite talent then you must have an elite coaching staff in order to compete at the top level

Manny Diaz was the best hire this staff could have made even looking back on it

Anyone who says otherwise is a moron

Do y'all know how football works? Do you know the average starting field position that LSU had? Do you know how poorly their QB played? And their RB outside of one play which was a player mistake?

who's job is it to prevent "player mistakes?"
why do our players make mental mistakes on defense and always look lost and confused in zone but LSU didn't?
it's not like burrows is even all sec caliber he's not that much better than malik

LoL, while diaz is blitz happy, he placed to much faith in the wrong personel on that 50yrd run. Other than that the defense was in place to make plays all game long. The fact that special teams kept giving lsu the short field, itll be hard to win like that against strong teaams.

We will see, good to see adversity early, lol.

The worst DC in the country after one week of playing against a perennial power 5 standout in what was virtually a road game somehow has the 39th ranked D in the nation.

were you aware that on that 'untouched' TD scamper that Manny had ALL THREE starting linebackers on the bench for a blow ,thats right all three. You don't think the LSU OC up in the booth saw that, of coarse he did, result, 60 yards up the gut untouched. Manny sucks

We offered Aranda and he took more money at LSU if I remember right. Spend money. Win big. Dude abused us on Sunday

This is what I remember. Ritch offered Aranda and waited for him. Arando took the lsu job over UM and literally the next day Ritch hired Diaz.
Aranda was his first choice.
