I'm here watching this Louisana Tech vs Illinois game and Espn flashes some stats about Louisana Tech's D. 40 takeways (1st), 25 Ints (1st), 15 fumbles recovered (5th), 12.6 Pts off turnovers per game (1st). I was impressed by their blitz packages and the way they let there corners play and how good the D was playing against a Big Ten team (I know that doesn't mean much).

The D Coordinator is Manny Diaz. A Miami native and son of the former Miami mayor with the same name. His style would be perfect for the type athletes we produce down here and is more what our fanbase is accustomed to. He seems to have been successful at every stop accept Texas, where in his one season as D coordinator he lead the Longhorns to one of their worst seasons ever and is why he is at a place like Louisana Tech now in the first place. He seems like he will be getting another shot at a big time program in the near future. Why not bring him home?

The DC is irrelevant as long as Al Golden is here. This is Al Golden's defense. D'Onofrio is laughably incompetent, but replacing him with another stooge to run Golden's system accomplishes nothing.

Diaz was fired from U of Texas because his defenses were hot garabage.

Mack brown used him, wore him out him trying to replace Will Muschamp as DC, washed him repeated on in the media as to why Texas lost so many games, and hung him out to try finally after giving up a school record 550yds to BYU.

Here is the article

If Miami is going to make a change at Defensive Coordinator it has to be Dave Aranda or Jim Leavitt both of whom will be looking for jobs by next week but won't be unemployed for long. An both could make UM an 11 win team at minimum next year given their abilities to mke mighty men defenses out of average players so using UM's roster for 2015 would produce a scary good defense.

Go Canes

You make valid points and I think that Butch would give him a look....If he was our coach. The only way we replace our DC is if we replace our HC also. AL has us by the balls and he knows it.

See you same time next year for the same conversation..probably with no change after going 6 and 6 again...

People still think that our DC is the issue?

At this point the only optimistic thoughts I have about the football team involve thinking about new coaches.
That's you mind-fcking yourself into thinking new assistants will turn Folden competent. A mindless quest for optimism will fck you up. Sometimes, it's best to just accept **** for what it is.

Manny Diaz is a great coordinator. Texas was a burning dumpster fire and he tried to turn crap into a top D. His defense was too complex for how Mack Brown was developing the talent there. All you have to do is look at his resume outside of Texas and you'll see. Would love him here!

I'm not talking about scapegoating the assistants. I'm just saying, the thought of a Rich Rod or Butch coaching this team is about the only thing left there is to be optimistic about.
