Like mentioned before even if Manny keeps his job and cleans house, say fires everyone, who in the **** is be going to convince to come and become assistants?? He would have just had a Terrible year, no coaching tree (outside of guys he already employees).
Either way this could be disastrous
Well, the only he was going to succeed at the highest level was with the Ed Orgeron / Dabo Swinney plan.
Sure, Ed was a head coach before, but L$U knew with him at the helm, there could be no bargain basement route with assistants and they spent hefty. Similarly, while L$U loved having "one of their own"...a true blue Cajun...at the helm, we had "a son of Miami" coming home to fulfill a dream. How do you help him do that?
Hand him the big checkbook to go after the likes of Taylor Stubblefield and Blake Baker to complement Patke & Co.
Ohhh, and your OL has continued to struggle year after year? You have to make a big splash there, you HAVE to....so you after the Tampa Bucs OL coach? AWESOME!!!...oh wait...your telling me it wasn't? Assistant OL Coach? Well, that's just as good...right?
All sarcasm aside, maybe Butch Barry and the rest of this crew work out great, but honestly, it is hard for me to see this product on the field and think these guys aren't way in over their heads.
It's a "culture" thing says Manny. Maybe....but you have been an integral part of this very culture since Richt came on board.
