It'll be interesting to see who he chose as OC or what style of offense he goes towards.
With everyone thinking this might be a steeping stone for Diaz coming back to Miami, it be good to see what he does.

If he is who I think he is, and he likes to take risks and gambling a little bit with play calling, I would anticipate he'll take a very aggressive high powered offense going for big shots.
Wouldn't be surprised if he picks an Air Raid guy, with some tempo.

I wish Diaz the very best. He's earned & deserves every bit of it. He did things the right way, Diaz didn't come here for 2 weeks & then leave while giving Miami fans the middle finger on his way out of town. Diaz was all class & I wish he & his family the very very best. I wish M. Richt nothing but pain & misery, & he deserves every bit of it.

I'm really hoping Diaz kills it at Temple. If he has some productive years at Temple and manages to run a good program while consistently winning, I'm all for him being the next coach at Miami. I'd like to see his recruiting improve though as this has been my one consistent knock against him.

If he coaches Temple to more than 10 wins next year we need to fire Richt and hire our new HC.

I hope he does well and is next in line for this job. Richt wont be here forever regardless of our record in the upcoming years. I am also interested to see what type of offense he runs. I am sure he will choose what he finds hardest to defend as a DC

Here's the only issue with his OC choice. A Pennsylvania OC likely doesn't work in Miami, just like Golden's Pennsylvania DC didn't work in Miami. In any case, I am curious.

If one of those 10 wins does NOT include the ACCCG (or there is no ACCCG “game for the ages” where Miami comes up short in the last seconds) then yes, Richt should be fired, imo.

Clemson will be juggernaut for two more years with Lawrence slinging it back there. 10 wins keeps us building to hopefully give them the game if the ages in the next 2-3.

Hold on. 10-2 or 10-3 and he gets fired? That's just irrational and a waste of bandwidth.

“…waste of bandwidth” yet here we are. LOL. SMH.

Building. Yes, that word.

Just like at the end of my post, it is MY OPINION that Richt will have Miami in the same interminable loop of “bust” and “nearly there” seasons that he demonstrated at UGA. I do not believe Richt can bring Miami to the CFP (which means Miami will always be second tier for top S FL recruits). I once hoped he could (though I had my doubts), now I’m fairly confident he can’t.

Y’all seem to believe that 10 win seasons should suffice, and that’s fine, but my question for both of you: “do you believe Richt can get Miami to the CFP?”

Yes.

What if we have 10 wins too?

Exactly the same thing we were saying 3 years ago. When do we get to stop saying "maybe we'll be relevant in 2-3 years"?

My thoughts exactly. @DMoney, can we get a Temple section added to the board so we can keep track of Manny and what he's doing with that program? Temple is literally now the only Canes related football team worth monitoring until further notice.

I will bet the house it won't resemble Richt's!!

Yep. We’re 3-4 years out after an entire new staff is in place. So open our umbrellas as we wait for the CAT IV shiit storm to end

I was all for Manny staying at UM. He installed the right kind of defense and he gets Miami.

But it will be interesting to see what he does up north. He has been a DC with access to great athletes at places like Miami and Texas. He couldn't get it done at Texas even with all the athletes and resources they had. How well will he do as the head of a program that isn't known for its ability to attract top talent?

The last 4 Temple head coaches have gone on to Power 5 head coaching jobs. It will be interesting to see if he maintains that trend. If he doesn't, it won't be a good look.
