Listen, our 01 team was great. But people forget, we really almost lost to BC and VT that year
As much as Ken Dorsey deserves our respect (and he was a winner even when he wasn't at his best), he had a pretty bad game against BC. It was actually painful to watch at times. Miami's Defense played really solid (and scored a TD so they only gave up a net 5 points or something). Dorsey was just off that day.

Yep, he threw 8 picks that season, half of them came in that one game against BC

For the talent we had we should have smashed teams even worse, but football was in a phone booth then

I can't believe that almost half of people have answered yes.

This really seems to be getting the secret Manny slurpers out of the closet. Moreso than a poll asking if Manny sucks would.

I mean, if there was a poll asking if Al Golden would win a title in 2001, would half of people seriously answer yes? I doubt it.

Coker won and he's the same like Manny he just claps. They both can't recruit so they would crash that lambo Butch built.
I think I could have won that year and I have never even thought about coaching. Ed and Ken coached that team. Once ED left we came up short. Without Ken we were done. I love Berlin but Coker could not see that he needed to be in shotgun all the time. He was not an undercenter QB. Pout that boy in today's spread and he tears everyone up. I think Coker was better OC than Manny was DC but after Butch's boys were gone he sucked at HC just like Manny. Heck, Dennis was a actual HC who won conference titles after the NFL but one the JJ/Butch recruits were gone he was just a HC not great.

Regardless of whether or not an average person could have won a title with that team, Manny couldn't have.

Well, it is not hard to agree so I will. After all, I never like Mark picking him for DC. If UT fired him why promote him to The U.

Coker also had the benefit of being closer to our glory years. Also had Shapiro to battle the sec

And the Orange Bowl -- no small advantage. I never saw were Shapiro did all that much. Could have been the cheapest bang man ever. Heck, Bama fans would have hung him in the woods for being cheap. Honestly, in 70's I spent more on any hot stripper than that dude spent on our players. Okay, I was stupid but he was small time.

Sucks man just hopeful we run into a staff one day instead of a staph. I would sacrifice all my teams for UM to be elite if I had too

Amen. I'm old but would love one more run before I join our passed brothers in that big OB on the other side. Plus it would be great to watch those to young to have seen the glory experience it. 2017 felt like it for a couple games, especially that ND night. The hair on my arm stood up when Bandy stepped in front of that pass. Never thought the Rock could come close to OB but it touched it that night. All we need is a decent staff. That is all be ever needed. But they have to be big enough for the moment. Mark had it within his frigging grasp and could not hold it. Heck, Manny shold have one those first two games this year and would have had his shot early but he had zero when he need it.

I stood up that whole night watching the highlight from richteras YouTube channel. I always get hyped at the Bandy pick and that old man screaming. Never heard a louder college game on TV in my life. I didn't enjoy the glory years man cause I wasn't really into cfb until 08 so it's been the same for me always. In the beginning digging in on scout I was a slurper thinking there was no way it was over....had so much hope. But as time went on I knew it was over and sort of accepted it.

We would have smashed teams worse if Coker hadn't called off the dogs in every game except Washington and Syracuse. I think Coker ran up the score vs Washington as revenge for the 2000 game, although I don't know why he ran up the score on Syracuse. (Maybe because of 66-13?)

For you and for others who never experience those years, I pray the All Merciful Lord give you at least a couple years to draw from that particular well. I have had a truly fantastic life by about any measure but still those years of game after game of everything on the line for both teams, even when we did not come out on top, were unbelievably great. THE U vs OU, NE, FSU, ND even PSU, locked in death struggles year after year was great. Not like today's world where Bama get second changes games on regular, back then, one loss and you were done. Seemed like we played each of them every year with winner moving on to whoever was left standing. Didn't need a committee, nope we did it on the field: 1 vs 2 once, twice, maybe three times some years. More teams had chance even though we were so dominant. It was fun.

Great years man

It's weird when I was young before I had a cfb team I remember on PlayStation I would pick Miami. Not knowing anything about them I just loved the logo and it's who I used. Forgot what year it was feels like ancient times man

None taken. Here's why Manny would have lost games. Coker didn't do much for that team, and it did well. Manny, on the other hand, would have turned it into a freaking circus. His grimy little fingerprints would have been all over that team. Of course the most talented team ever assembled shouldn't have lost a game. Then again, the 2019 version was certainly talented enough to not lose to a 2 win GT team and FIU. The reason they did? Manny Diaz.
