I always find it interesting when I hear things like "optics" or "the appearance of impropriety." Its like the UM board of disTrustees are so busy doing shady ****t that they need to ensure that everyone else around them stays squeaky clean so as not to draw attention to their shenanigans. lol

It's beyond bizarre frankly. These corrupt politically correct sociopaths actually view a guy like Jurich as having "baggage". This is the mentality that we are dealing with. These clowns are completely cut off from the reality of life. They live in this quixotic Pollyanna style bubble and make program affecting decisions with that exact mindset. We are beyond screwed unless there is a revolution and the good guys get the political power which right now they clearly do not have.

He took over Tennessee after getting a nfl job based on his daddy’s name. Utter disaster..landed at a SEC blue blood at the time who was a top 4 school in that conference. Bolted for his dream job..he took over SC, and don’t bring up sanctions because y’all never gave Golden that out..but still and yet, usc was such a “bad job”..that Dude miraculously had a preseason team ranked #1..and went 7-6 that same szn..and we *****ing about our coach being AP 14th and going 7-5…we need a entire thread dedicated just lane Kiffin and the truth…he, meaning lane kiffin is not on Riley’s level.

I grade Golden on a curve because of the sanctions. He was a better recruiter and talent evaluator than Richt. Richt was the better coach. If Golden had been less stubborn and willing to change his DC, I think there is a good chance he would have won 10 games in 2017, which Richt did with a roster of nearly all Golden recruits. Kiffin going 10-2 with only 51 scholarship players and knocking off #3 Oregon at Autzen is **** good coaching. Yes that was mostly Carroll's players, but a couple years later Ed O as interim HC went 10-4 with players he and Kiffin recruited, so Kiffin knows how to evaluate talent.

I've said before I would have zero interest in pre Saban Kiffin or Cristobal. When Kiffin was Bamas OC, they set records. At FAU, he took over a program that hadn't had a winning season in 7 years (maybe even longer). Year 1 he wins the conference with double digit wins. Year 3 he wins the conference with double digit wins. Now in his 2nd year in the toughest conference in cfb, Ole Miss won 10 games for the first time in its history. That is 3 out of the last 5 seasons he's had 10+ wins with two conference championships. He's doing this at schools that aren't traditional football powerhouses.

As you said, Oklahoma is one of the top football schools in the country. They have a national brand and tremendous resources. They are like Oregon on steroids. Any halfway decent coach should be able to win at Oklahoma. Riley had made the playoffs several times. He is an excellent college coach. But he has made it abundantly clear he has no ambitions to be a NFL HC.

In my personal HC rankings of pure coaching ability, all the college lifers, even Saban, rank below the coaches with both NCAA and NFL championships. The best and most driven HCs want to test themselves in the NFL, where there is parity across nearly all 32 teams. No NFL team gets to have 14 5 stars on the roster and play a team of only 3 stars.

I think Kiffin wants to use UM as a springboard to the NFL. I respect that. History shows that every UM coach hired away to be a NFL HC had tremendous success at UM. The program was built by ambitious coaches who had their eyes on moving to the NFL (or USFL in Schnellys case). So there is a bit of irony in the fact that the profile of a championship HC at UM looks a lot more like Lane Kiffin (a guy with NFL HC aspirations) than Mario Cristobal (who is expected to be UM coach for life)

Help me understand how Lane would be an epic hire. What program has he built from the ground up? What about recruiting? He had the biggest hammer in football (USC) and flopped. Now he’s an epic hire. Gtfoh!!

We're a joke. We are a laughingstock. We are the bottom of the barrel. Sociopaths like Epstein are literally holding this program hostage and there doesn't seem to be any end in sight. I'm going to come out and say it. At this point the likelihood of either Kiffin or Cristobal leading this program in 2022 becomes increasingly slim every day that the AD position goes unfilled. As it stands right now, I would be absolutely shocked if we even made a move for either of them. It would appear as though we are stuck with Mandy for another year. While the rest of college football is out trying to improve themselves by making aggressive coaching hires, Miami is completely paralyzed in their quest to hire an AD because Tom Jurich, the obvious and overwhelmingly popular choice amongst the fan base and the UM faction who wants to win, was once accused of something that he was subsequently cleared of. To Epstein and the rest of the status quo faction at UM, the above may as well be tantamount to rape or murder because they consider this to be major baggage. I would rather they drop football than to be held hostage and be dragged through the mud

Lol. When he was at SC, didn’t they get hit with sanctions? He wasn’t playing with a full deck? Look- If we’re going to keep **** real, let’s keep it real then? And the guy has recruited pretty well over the years? This false narrative that Lane can’t recruit is total bullsh1t. Furthermore, with Lane, we have the advantage of bringing the absolute BEST recruiter with him…WINNING! Done.

Yeah, the Riley to USC didn't just happen, they waited to announce it. We technically still have a coach and Mario still has a championship game to play and doesn't need any distractions.

Oh, Kiffen is also still at Ol **** and hasn't gotten an extension as well.

And that’s the frustrating thing about our administration? Our administration is like Jerry Seinfeld. They will find the smallest flaw in an otherwise decent chick and completely obsess over the ****. This...Lane was at two potential powerhouse schools and did squat (other than leave Tennessee high and dry). He did well at FAU...FAU! Now, he had a good year at Ole Miss with players he didn't recruit, and his current recruiting class is worthless despite the fact that Ole Miss is losing 35 seniors. So you would think landing a top class would be priority number one. Having a good offensive scheme does not make someone a good head coach. Plus, you know Kiffin would drop us at a moments notice. Let's see how he does with his recruits at Ole Miss.

Riley inherited a championship level program from Bob Stoops. All he had to do was not **** it up. Credit to him for extending Oklahoma’s winning ways under his leadership. But he’s never had to build a program from scratch like Lane has at different places.

I love Lincoln Riley, and wish that he would have come to Miami. But to try to **** on Lane by dissing him is disingenuous at best.

You might think that he’s not a good choice optics wise for the U, but you can’t deny that the guy is an offensive guru, and that he has the sort of “us against the world” attitude that fits perfectly with Miami.

He just led an Ole Miss squad playing in the toughest conference and division in college football to a 10-2 record, with way less talent overall than what Lincoln had at OU.

Kiffin is a great coach, and would do great things as the Canes HC. If he brings in a guy like Lebby with him (as @Liberty City El previously stated), we’d be feared again nationally.

Where has Lane built a program from scratch? FAU? He left Tennessee high and dry, and he got canned at USC cause he couldn't build a program. He will leave us high and dry just at some point.
