Man, Lane looks great in his new gear

i mean, people are saying he'd leave but if he's actually able to contend for titles here where would he even go?
Great question.
I like Kiffen, because he's showing maturity and for him to be at Ole Miss, he must be proving it.

You can't keep judging him from his past stops, his actions and non actions. He is a different man, today. I personally feel he'll at least be here 5 years, and what makes everyone so sure that he will dominate the ACC? Nothing is guaranteed, but he makes me feel like we have a good chance at being great with him.

PLUS, he loves Boca and the blue waters......

In a way it does.

Saban tried the NFL route and got crushed--he limped back to college ranks. Now, has he been Daddy to everyone since, absolutely but he isn't getting another NFL job.

Kiffin hasn't stuck at any destination position college or NFL.

Do you believe he gives Miami 7-10 years?

I do not. I just think we need at least the hope of a decade AD-HC combo.
Who cares? At this point if he gives us 3 solid years and gets us to the ACCCG...and maybe a spot in the CFP...his job is done, and he will have left us off in a better position for the next guy. Miami has historically been a stepping stone program, and that's a good thing. It tells potential coaches that if you win at Miami...the world is yours and your future opportunities are endless.

The days of long tenured coaches are coming to an end anyways.

Un momemto por favor.

Do you really want the sugar high of a good next 3 years vs the chance at enduring success like a Bama??

You're too funny.

Seriously? Howard, Jimmy, Dennis and Butch each only stayed 4-5years - the greatest era of Canes football. Facts are, Miami will never be able to retain a big time coach long term like Bama.

Lane could get us back on top quicker than anyone, and then he can go to NFL or wherever.

Three years would be plenty.

Touché. I walked into that one didnt I?

I guess I just believe Miami needs at least a chance at stability and longevity like Saban, Dabo, likely Fisher, etc.

The era of cycling coaches I just dont think get our Canes where we want them. to be.

Either would I but would we alos be a 2 year pit stop like TN, USC, FAU and Ole Miss? Or would he actually give us 4-5 years to make a run at championships
We would never make runs as champions cause the SEC will be getting the top kids still. We would be what UF has done over the last few years basically.

But thats the era we are in. Trust me the days of Dabos and Saban's are coming to an end.

Like @skeeper said... Miami has always been a stepping stone....nothing wrong with that. Keep the train moving onto the next guy with aspirations of something bigger and profit.

Butch did want to stay , but we screwed that up. If the current coach is the goods and has Miami competing for CFB Playoffs
spots, I won't be mad if he takes his dream job or bolts for the league...because at the end of the day, the job will always be desired...period.

I dont know of the short cycle is the way it is or should be.

But just because I thonk that, doesn't make reality.

You make good points.

Did he though really?

Ok, Bama was a rehab project for him, he was never staying.

FAU hoped to keep him, but both knew the Owls were a Lane K booty call until another fine mama became available.

He didn’t leave Alabama on good terms at all. There was a major feud going on between him and Saban. When your asked not to be the OC at the national championship game that means something

If you say Butch Davis 5 times into a mirror, Caneinorlando will appear behind you
Butch Davis Butch Davis Butch Davis Butch Davis Butch Davis

I like your line of thought. I agree, keep the hungry dudes with something to prove rolling thru the program, we won't have a thing to worry about. We aren't the staple like Bama and OSU.

I think lane is the type to be motivated and want to stick it to the SEC and the sabans of the world. He at least wouldn’t be a cuck like diaz. He’d go out with a bang lol

It's obvious Lane wants to be in South Florida. But how quickly would he jump to the Dolphins if that door opened?

Lane can be a 2 year rental and then Miami can git Mario after the glow of this seasun at Oregon where's off.
more like we can see what mario can do over 2 more full seasons

this season right here is his first one where he's been "very good"

Butch was HC at UM 6yrs....

He would be purely a rental. He has not left a single previous stop on good terms.

Why would a stay at Miami be different??
He left Tennessee better than he found it. Ole miss is much better off than when he got there. FAU was much better off than when Partridge left. USC can be argued but the sanctions did him in there.

Older and wiser. Might as well scrap anything he did prior to Alabama off his resume. That job is like holy water and he spent several years there unlike most that do 1-2 years before their next stop.

I just wish lane had that personal drive to recruit at a higher level than he does. He’s too laid back and worries about his lifestyle to put in the hours to recruit. X&O mastermind that nearly off-sets everything else.. but at some point you’ve got to have the personnel to win and idk if he gets us to that level.

Thats what buyout clauses are for. If Ross wants to give UM $50 million for Kiffin, then he can have him.

Yeah I wish we could merge them into one coach. Mario steadfastness with Lane's mind. So what happens if Mario comes and our recruiting doesn't jump significantly? Is he good enough to win with similar or slightly above average ranked talent? Based on his coaching history, debatable. I think Lane can do more with less than Mario can.

Not sure Vol Nation has added a verse to Rocky Top in his honor.

With that said, you make strong points.
