Mallory long reception penalty (Video)

The first side view, you see the ref was looking right at him.

He moved ever so slightly but as someone who played that position that sure wasn't an intentional thing to draw the D off. Centers used to do things intentionally all the time by quickly tightening their grip on the ball - the interior D lineman watch the center's hand a lot. All I can figure is he got him on the 1 second set.

See Article 4 (b)

"ARTICLE 4.

a. If a snap is preceded by a huddle or shift, all players of the offensive team must come to an absolute stop and remain stationary in their positions, without movement of the feet, body, head or arms, for at least one full second before the ball is snapped (A.R. 7-1-4-I) [S20].

b. It is not intended that Rule 7-1-4-a should prohibit smooth, rhythmical shifts if properly executed. A smooth cadence shift or unhurried motion is not an infraction. However, it is the responsibility of an offensive player who moves before the snap to do so in a manner that in no way simulates the beginning of a play. After the ball is ready for play and all players are in scrimmage formation, no offensive player shall make a quick, jerky movement before the snap, including but not limited to (A.R. 7-1-4-II-IV):

  1. A lineman moving his foot, shoulder, arm, body or head in a quick, jerky motion in any direction [S19]."

IMO the reason why we are penalized and others are not... We were a bunch of kids from the hood whooping up on the Great Football Establishment and telling them about it the Entire time. We stuck it to em in a big way. They’ve been sticking it back to us since with refs and paying for the players in our back yard they wanted nothing to do with before. So, we need to beat the opponents and the refs each game.

MC at best, otherwise I thought IC. We had a few plays where I thought the lineman got a pretty good jump on the snap and should have been nailed with FST

You can see Scaife rock backwards in that clip - albeit VERY slightly. Thats the first clip I've seen that I actually noticed it. But the fact that the refs can see that small of a movement but completely miss Phillips' jersey getting pulled in every direction all night long is absolutely egregious.
Yeah. At most, it’s 1/12 of a second before the ball moves. A different guy moves a nearly imperceptible moment before the ball. If we analyze plays to this exactness, I would be surprised if this wasn’t common.

ACC refs ******** Miami as usual. All fans complain about refs but this **** is ridiculous. We went a whole YEAR without one holding call against an opposing team. The fix is in against us.

We need to leave this conference.

Didn't see it during the broadcast. But now, you can see he starts to lean back prior to the snap.

What kills me about officiating like this is it sets the narrative of Miami being undisciplined and heavily penalized. So when they ***** us over again, the commentators go straight to the "Miami is in the top 5 in penalties" box. I'm sick of it. The did it to us last year until we were out of contention, then they let up. It's disgusting.

All my Mallory haters were happy it got called back. Dude looked like an NFL TE weeping that defender. Get the fck off me, bytch! Tossed to the side like rubbish.

Been trying to tell you guys this kid is a special threat in the throw game. He's going to be a star here.
It will be nice to have him next year when Jordan leaves

We need to start running more double tights. Let one go off the snap and one block and release into the flat. We’d kill em
