what I remember about that BC game in 01 was that late in the game as Miami needed to run the clock out, the Oline was able to move people upfront and allowed Portis to move the chains effectively. In other words, they could run the ball when needed

That game was seemingly in hand till Gore than fumbled and well, we know what happened afterwords that game..

Dope post. We kept running the ball in the end until gore had that massive fumble.... But I remmeber Portis had the run of the game when we were backed up on our goal line.... 3rd and 12 and think dude ran for 14. If it wasn't for gore's fumble we wouldn't have needed the goats return the seal the game. The team this yr can't force their will in the trenches on the offensive side. Soon as the balls snapped they getting pushed back

I liked the decision to pull him yesterday. I'm not sure if you could see it on the TV screen, but our wide receivers were wide open. There was one time Jeff Thomas had his man beat by a lot on a post, but the throw was so far to the outside it may have looked like he was covered by the time the ball got there. Almost all of his throws, incompletions and completions, were off target. Because our guys were so wide open most off the day it appeared all we would need is an accurate quarterback and we would March right down the field. It didn't work as Evan was obviously playing scared out there. Sometimes when a team comebacks in the fourth quarter the quarterback has been playing poorly, but there is no way Malik was going to do that for us. Almost every single one of his throws were atrocious for 3 quarters.

Anyway, I'm glad we had Malik start this year and I hope he wins 3 more for us. I'll still take what he has given us this year and be thankful. He is my favorite quarterback since Dorsey. However, benching him yesterday was the only chance we had at winning that game.

Malik stunk up the joint yesterday and was a key player as why we lost, but he isn't the 1st QB to have a bad game.

In 2001 Dorsey stunk up the joint vs a **** BC team and almost lost the game. The difference is Dorsey had a real OL which could run and pass block. He had a real defense that didn't just cause turnovers but shut teams down. We won because others picked up the slack.

A group that help carry the slack was the OL and Portis.

Plus a defense that despite having an offense that turned the ball over 5 times. Kept going out and forcing 3 TO themselves and scoring a TD. All the while only giving up 7 points to BC.

Our only offensive points were from Todd Sievers FG.

Malik is not good enough too carry this team alone. It is shocking that we have 10 wins.

Everyone wants to blame him alone, but where is the outcry for a OL that can't open holes? Oh i forgot, reading this board Malik needs to complete those passes so we can run.

A defense that shuts down ND, but needs 25 from the offense to beat a 4-6 Pitt team.

This offense needs chunk plays in both the pass and run to function. Richt offense is offensive to anyone that calls themselves an OC.

The defense was on the field for too **** long yesterday. Malik not making throws and keeping drives alive finally broke our defense’s back. They gave Rosier 2 turnovers with excellent field position and Malik just f@cked them. You’re an ungrateful ******* for calling out the defense that with all their struggles yesterday, they kept us in the game. Malik is still our horse cause we have none better but this lose was on him. Like he said himself he was complacent, just out there to be out there and not dialed in.

Malik had an absolutely terrible game but I can’t get behind the decision to pull him. We were down two possessions and had at best three possessions left outside of some miracle onside kick or turnover situation. Anyone who has seen Evan play is mind boggled by the amount of balls that are batted down. Sure enough first throw batted down. Second throw good play by the defender except not even close to having a chance to be completed and then a sack. Richt wasted a possession to prove a point. Essentially signaled to the team that we were done by making that move. Just hope doing so and dropping this one was enough to light a fire under the team for Saturday.

Malik had an absolutely terrible game but I can’t get behind the decision to pull him. We were down two possessions and had at best three possessions left outside of some miracle onside kick or turnover situation. Anyone who has seen Evan play is mind boggled by the amount of balls that are batted down. Sure enough first throw batted down. Second throw good play by the defender except not even close to having a chance to be completed and then a sack. Richt wasted a possession to prove a point. Essentially signaled to the team that we were done by making that move. Just hope doing so and dropping this one was enough to light a fire under the team for Saturday.

Look no one said to leave Shariffs sorry @ss in the game permanently but Malik needed to be benched for a series because he missed wide open receivers all day whether it was the long ball, bubble screen, you name it. CMR understands he is the only horse in the stable at QB that gives us a chance to win but he had to get his attention somehow

Rosier at his worst is WAY worse than Dorsey at his worst

Not the actual point. Try this one, Vinny in the Feista Bowl. He is still throwing picks. And he had the best or second best team ever but it couldn’t save us. Bernie against gator in his first game was horrible too. Point is, even our greatest qbs had horrible days. Rosier has taken us farther than any expected and early on his big plays made the difference. Let’s hope he can do what Ken and Bernie did and come back to win the NC. Vinny was greatest QB we ever had and never did delivered that.

Rosier is far from great but he has one characteristic that has been the difference this year. Like Mark, he does not panic. He is calm under pressure like his coach. Some times it is hard to get the attention of people like that. Actually the whole team was calm, way too calm. Mark makes big money and blame comes with that. One would think that if benching Rosier for a series to shake him up was the thing to do, it should have been done sooner. As it was it as a white flag of surrender.

I'm not blaming Malik alone as there is plenty of blame to go around (OL/DB). However, he missed a few for sure TDs that could have changed the entire game. He also missed a wide open Berrios on 3rd down that would have led to points in the 3rd qtr. Malik was just off this game.

Let's get something straight about Dorsey and getting sacked. Yes, he had a good offensive line.

But, Dorsey also had a quick release and got rid of the ball very fast. He was a great decision maker and made his reads quickly. He had a natural feel for pressure and got rid of the ball before taking sacks. If you don't believe me watch tape of 2000-2002. He was pressured/hit several times a game. Defenses tee'd off on him. But his was so good at reading defenses and getting rid of the ball that he rarely got sacked.
A quarterback that can do that makes his offensive line look better.
Also, pro offense is more condusive to grinding out yards in the run game than the spread. Not saying our o-line can't play better, especially the interior, but it helps when you line up with a big fullback and TE and smash a RB forward.
