Malik Rosier

gotta admit, its almost funny at this point how al golden manages to **** up even the only things that look like they have potential....

brad kaaya... has a great freshman year and for the first time in forever we look to have a good qb, and what does he do? he decides he's going to throw brad's tempo off and throw a 2nd qb in there. unreal.

Similarly, many players and fans, myself included felt that Ryan Williams should have been getting some reps in 2014. I felt that would have helped Brad Kaaya's development. Yet golden wanted none of it, my guess continues to be because the players wanted it and we all know how much smarter golden is than everyone else in the room. Now golden wants to do the right thing in the wrong year. Seriously, Im not sure a professional reality TV writer could come up with this ****.

Putting Ryan Williams in would have made no sense once Kaaya became the starter. It most certainly would not have helped Kaaya's development. They came with similar skillsets, pro-style, drop back QBs. Playing QB roulette in such a case is far more harmful than helpful. Putting in Rosier is based on the fact that Rosier is a completely different type of QB that would result in a change up that the defense would have to deal with, similar to trading out your big back for a small shifty back during the game.

Y'all dudes are killing me!

First, Evan Sherriffs is some super baller who no one else wanted, but he's going to be a stud for us.

Now, Malik Rosier is supposed to be pushing our starting QB who's supposed to be a top NFL draft pick in a few years?

LOL

The only way Rosier is really pushing Kaaya is if Kaaya really isn't that good.

****, the only reason Rosier is on the roster is because of how many misses this staff at recruiting QBs.

We didn't RS Rosier because he was too awesome ... We RS him because he was even worse than Jake Heaps.

And they brought Testaverde over because they don't really want to turn the team over to Malik, unless they absolutely have to.

Malik will be 2nd team like Spencer Whipple was 2nd team ... On the depth chart, only. IMO, this staff is playing Testaverde if anything keeps Kaaya from playing multiple games.

Have y'all not remembered all the Jacory Harris vs. Stephen Morris, too close to call garbage this staff fed the media? But morris only saw the field when Harris was suspended or injured.

The same with Heaps and Kaaya, but even when Kaaya struggled, Heaps stayed on the bench. If it was really that close, Heaps would have played more.

This staff has a history of lying about the QB position.

You are doing a lot of projecting. The facts are that Malik is good enough to where he is pushing Brad for playing time and you see that as a bad thing?

I don't believe that is a FACT.

The team sent Kaaya and Kirby to the ACC Media days. Why would they send a QB who might not actually be the starter?

Some folks are making more out of this than it is:

Does Rosier have a specific package on O to maximize his skills and talents? Absolutely.

Will it be used in some game this season? Probably.

Will it be used in every game this season? Doubtful.

Is Rosier pushing Kaaya for the starting job? NO.

Rosier is not "pushing" Kaaya for playing time because he's so good. The coaches are merely saying they will come up with packages that allow for bringing in Rosier as a change-up to Kaaya. Many teams do that, bringing in a "gimmick" QB for special packages.

If you believe Rosier is pushing Kayaa for the job then you need rehab.

Dude is simply getting a couple snaps here and there for dual threat look. Nothing more , nothing less.

If Allison sticks, Rosier will pull a David Thompson and focus on baseball. That will likely be the best decision for his future anyway.

I'm not sure that is correct, but have you considered that The issue is that Malik is that good. He is a legit threat at QB. Brad won 6 games. This is not his team. I am for one that Brad is being pushed hard. This typically brings out the best on someone.

I do not share that opinion. There were plenty of times when Brad Kaaya struggled last season. It could very well have been helpful to spell him from time to time, give him a chance to watch a few series here and there. As well, seeing as how Ryan Williams had a similar skillset to Kaaya, as you noted, it would have been more beneficial than having a Malik Rosier type of QB in there.

You can't serious?!?

Outside of injury, that dude will never start a game at QB ...

You are missing the point also. Malik is just that good to where he is pushing Brad for playing time.

Malik Rosier can BALL. Keep sleeping....

Yeah. At baseball.

Tried to tell em....

I'm glad you posted this. But it's kind of like the defensive scheme posts that were made after Bethune and FAU. I'm not sure you'll be glad you posted it if Rosier gets another start ...

Heck, we've never been able to stop the run option against anyone. Why not run it since we have an athletic QB in Malik? I like it.

We should use it in practice so OUR D learns how to stop it, but I hate them using it mid-drive like they did earlier this season. Momentum killer.

Here's a quote from Miami Herald blog:

As for backup Malik Rosier, the staff loves his arm strength and believes he can be dangerous in read option sets. During the spring, he completed a 75-yard pass and run to Berrios on a read option play that Kansas State uses.

Rosier said UM coaches are “trying to put in special packages, run/pass plays for me. There are certain plays I'm going to run. Brad is capable of running them but they're more specific towards me. It should be really interesting what we do this year” with those plays.

I expected to see some of this last year but could be a weapon if its implemented this season.

This is why everyone should be FIRED! **** a Package. Run The Offense!

Has no business coming into games for Brad. He's not a dual threat. Sure he's athletic but doesn't know how to use it.

Above par game against Duke=He can ball. Okey doke. And in your case, a broken clock is right twice a day. Tennessee and Auburn still going to play for the SEC championship?

Opinion hasn't changed. Don't try to pat yourself on the back (finally) before the long haul.

Outside of injury, that dude will never start a game at QB ...

Positive: This would be an example of, "Players first, then plays"

Negative: It takes the ball away from the player with the best pro potential on the offense.

If Kaaya could run the read-option, I wouldn't have an issue with this. But since he doesn't, it will be fairly obvious what's coming if Rosier comes into the game. I'm not sure that's the best position to put him in?

And not to be overlooked ... EVERY option offense is predicated on timing. If the timing is off, it increases the chances of errors. I'm not sure how they get and keep the timing right, unless there are very few plays ...

All of that noted ... I think it might be an ideal package for 2-point conversions. Always a run-run-pass option.

You are missing the point also. Malik is just that good to where he is pushing Brad for playing time.

****, MIATL went on Malik and took a big fuggin L.

Yeah.

This is what I get for putting too much faith in the roster evaluations from DMoney and Peter Ariz

I'm glad to see Rosier is a gamer. I'll take wins over stats and workout performances every day!
