Malik Rosier could be the best QB

Kaaya might be in as early as May 18 and already has and is learning the playbook. Rosier is a catcher in baseball but will move to outfield if he plays here to save his knees.

I think a lot of you are sleeping on Rosier heavy. Not only is he talented and athletic (watch his senior film before you talk) but he also seems like he has the work ethic and attitude it takes to be a successful college QB.

If he's #18 I was impressed yesterday. Not only with his stature and arm but how inquisitive he was on the sideline, talking to many teammates with wide eyes and ears.

The two kids who were never on the field at quarterback looked much more interesting than the two goofs receiving all the snaps.

It wasn't him. He's not an early enrollee.

According to HurricaneSports, #18 @ QB was RFr Matt Welch (?).

Saw Russ Wilson at NC State come in as a two-star and take it to the Super Bowl Championship..Malik has that type of persona to accomplish the same thing..Wilson just had a better QB coach who's put 3 QB's in the NFL as starters.. Hint Hint when the next hiring comes up

Lulz

Our freshman are always super freaks until they arrive on campus, and fail to impress. Then it's onto the next class, and the next.

i think his senior film reminds me of stephen morris. baseball player playing qb with pretty good athleticism, good arm, but lacks the ability to make reads

That's where coaching comes in as very few HS QB's are adept at making reads and some of the highlights I've seen make me think he is okay at it.

He is the best athlete at QB we will have had and he seems to be able to make all the throws judging by his highlight video. I am intrigued by a QB that can pass and run. He might be a Steve Walsh who was a throw in scholarship player who turned out to be big time. We used to thrive on lower rated players who became stars.

Steve Walsh was a "throw-in"? Where'd you get that from? Did you hear that from someone inside the program? If anybody was a throw-in, it was probably Geno Torretta, who exceeded expectations. I heard at the time they mainly gave Geno a scholarship because of his brother. I think Walsh was probably something of a priority, not just a throw-in. I don't remember whom else we recruited that year at QB, so maybe he wasn't the top of the list, but I think he was more of a priority than you think. I don't believe he was as heavily recruited as some of the other national recruits at QB, but Howard Schnellenberger at Louisville wanted him badly and Howard knew QBs. I think we regarded the two recruits that year, Walsh and Bill Turkowski, as recruits we really wanted if not at the top of the wish list. One of those years, either just before or after, we turned down a number of QBs who ended up starting at other schools because we didn't think they met our standards. We did recruit a number of other duds in the Johnson years, like Joey Coles, Greg Jones and some others.

May the best man win.

I'll say this: there's a lot more excitement surrounding Rosier inside the program than I anticipated. A lot of people are very high on him.

Just from a Rozier interview I read I think that Coley has certain ideas regarding how Rozier will be used. I think they want to go more to a dual threat, perhaps a read option or a wildcat, I'm not sure. I can't remember exactly what offense Rozier described in the interview, but I think he will provide an alternative to all the other QBs in the program right now. It might be put into the package to provide a change of pace and different look from the basic offense. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rozier get some playing time this year. Everybody's been down on him but he might surprise you. None of the other QBs we have now have the kind of running ability that Rozier has.

This could increase the problems for opposing defensive coordinators if they have to prepare not only for our base package with all the playmakers we have at WR, RB and TE, but then to have to be prepared for a change of pace package with a dual threat quarterback.

Bill Turkowski was the next great western Pa QB 6foot 6 with a big arm. Walsh was not a highly regarded QB, Howard wanted him because Howard was the smartest at seeing true potential. Turkowski made all the waves back then not Walsh.

Steve was not highly recruited. His kid brother on the other hand was supposed to be a can't miss.

The staff obviously thought more of Rosier than Treon Harris by offering him a qb scholarship much earlier in the process. Yet if Treon was on this team I bet a bunch of you would assume he'd have a legit shot to start in the next year or 2. Not sure why You don't give Rosier the same benefit of the doubt. His tape is very interesting
