Malik Reneau was spotted in the concession line after the game

Blaming our lack of success (poor choice of words on my end) on Malik isn’t really fair. There were other issues.

I think Jai will have a better/deeper/more athletic roster next year

I’d classify this season as successful. Like I’ve said, first time HC, had to replace the entire roster, finished third in a P4 conference, made it to the semis of the ACC tournament, won a tournament game, and gave a team that could make a final four run a game all the way until the end.

Yes there’s a couple guys on this team who shouldn’t return but I’m not worried at all with Lucas at the helm.

Lay off Trinton. He's a literal kid, learing the ropes here. He's already better than a lot of career South FL sports writers.
That's a low bar to clear. Journalistic ethics are nonnegotiable, especially if one wants to hold themselves out to be a professional. I understand he's young, but if he's old enough to get a credential, he's old enough to be held to the same standard that his peers are. I remember back in my The Miami Hurricane days, my editor would say "Just because we are all students, doesn't mean that the standard is lower. We have a responsibility to the people that read the paper to put in the work".

Point taken. But me thinks massive difference in adult university student which would be closer in time to graduation and being a professional than a 14 year old would be to just graduating high school. He doesn't even have a driver's license.

I dont think you can want to be taken seriously on one hand as legit journalist then turn around and push 4chan troll post for clicks and outrage engagement and be completely aware of it and hide behind Im just a kid shrug BS. He can be called out for BS

Imagine that, a kid doing dumb **** like troll posting. Hes not a professional journalist by any means.

He is very fortunate to have D Money and Pete let him cut his teeth here giving him some exposure to the world of sports journalism. But its just introductory exposure. He has no(or likely very little) actual education in journalism.

You guys are proving my point

The point you guys are really making is this is a high traffic content site covering one of the biggest brands in sports and why are they letting an untrained kid pump out articles and coverage without journalistic integrity and education being established. That is a valid point but thats separate.

Journalism at its highest integrity honestly rarely exists these days. You've got grown adults with fully formed brains cranking out click bait, raking in money.

If they wanna let him cut his teeth, their name and rep is on the site. You can send your journalistic integrity questions to the adults that are running a monster content site for a college level team(s).

just Let the kid be till he stops riding the yellow bus, goes to prom or actually graduates from an academic institution and ask the adults if you see something you dont like

Why not let him take the feedback and deal with it. He’ll be better for it.

Seems like he stands in the paint pretty well instead of crying and being obnoxious like a list of other young bucks that couldn’t handle the bad with the good.

Valid to an extent. Again I think most here are applying the same "welcome to the jungle" "if you die you die" mentality in regards to criticism (lets be honest this place ain't for the faint of heart for grown *** men at times) WHILE FORGETTING ITS A ******* CHILD.

I have no idea how likely it is, but kids his age have done extreme things to themselves folding under pressure bc a girl didnt return their text or post or whatever. Certainly in a way of far less scrutiny than this jungle at times. Some of you are real pieces of ****. Some of you aren't. Thats the ******* point. Bc you dont know how the **** you say affects a child's mind.

Instead of let it fly and **** it lets see how the kid does and the chips fall where they fall, we be actual decent human beings and not pieces of ****.

Anybody arguing that a 14 year old should be treated the same online and held to the same standard as practicing grown *** Mike Lupicas or Dan Lebatard or pick any other *******, has exposed themselves as a scumbags piece of ****.

I’m always open to criticism and feedback that’s part of doing this. At the same time, there’s a difference between constructive criticism and just you know being completely just rude. Not every article piece is going to land for everyone, but it is what it is.

Again, like I said above, I try to do articles that the majority of Miami Hurricanes websites, or just websites in general don’t do, things other sites don’t really cover. I try to make it a more fun and readable site.

My job here isn’t to be super formal, who really wants to read just plain, formal stuff? I mean, yes I know some people might just want that. I try to make it a little more fun, maybe a shorter article, with maybe just four or five lines, to break up the longer pieces you’re already getting from people like D, Pete, and Sebastian.

A lot of these articles I put out are shorter, more concise pieces, so I can get maybe seven, eight, or nine out a day while still giving Hurricanes fans the infowitout going too deep into the article. I know that might sound a little weird, I guess, but writing articles are actually my favorite part of the day. I look forward to doing these.

Exactly. This is something we see across media today and it's annoying. People want to be professional trolls, but if someone drags them for it, they try to hide behind "I was joking" or "I didn't know any better". It's BS.

Valid. I think most simply don't want him to fall into obvious traps.

Like if his name is Trinton Breeze... then it is a slippery slope - so some cracking his knuckles with a ruler are doing it for his own good long term.

The same crap applied when I wrote for the HS newspaper. There's a difference between being entertaining and writing poorly informed hot takes. If you want to be a journalist, you have to take pride in your work. Then again, seeing what sports journalism has become, I'm not shocked people are fine with this nonsense, because "He's just a kid".

How about a rude, yet supportive **** off just to keep you on your toes?

But seriously, review some of the feedback, keep refining your brand, take what you dish out and secure your bag...
