Malik Barrow OSU DT trying to Dial Up that U-Portal

Is that a turnover book bag? And how many DTs do we need???
I got blasted for that 2nd comment of yours one month ago. Good luck.

Besides according to previous postings, we only have 1 Counter left from 2019. After that, we are dipping into 2020 and those are precious numbers as that class and the next two are loaded.

Hard to say if we should take a flyer on him or not. He’s undersized and has a history of bad injuries. At this point with what we have on the roster plus what we have committed for the 2020 recruiting class I would have to say it’s a no go for the U extending him an offer via the Portal. Like someone already said, could see him landing at USF or UCF.

Can he throw an accurate, wobble free ball in the general direction of the receiver?

....and is he a workout and film room warrior ......who really, really, really loves football??

lol

We're at 25 incoming players in 2019 but 3 are early enrollees. Does this mean we have 3 open spots remaining?

exactly at this point its more quantity over quality

According to you and the other posters on here who think if a player isn't a stud by his sophomore year he is a bust and should consider transferring right? Good thing Bama doesn't buy that BS or they would have sent Quinnen Williams packing as he only played significant minutes his Jr season!

WTF are you guys talking about? DT is a position that takes time for players to develop and come into their own. Everyone isn't going to be Vince Wilfork. Most of you would never have known that most of our legendary DTs didn't start playing like that until their 3rd year in the program. (JBrown, Russell Maryland, Sapp)

Ford, Miller and Nesta can develop and be **** good for us. Ford is already showing flashes in his 3rd season. And we already have the UCLA kid and Bethel as well. Give them a chance before hitting the panic button and bringing in damaged goods. Its way too early for this kind of talk.

I’m not advocating going after the kid/taking him, because I really don’t know much about him and he can’t stay healthy. But correct me if I’m wrong, didn’t Miami just take another 5-star DL who can’t stay healthy? I’m sure they’re not exact situations, and I know they play different positions, but still.

But moreso, how can you just dismiss any DT at this point?

Nnoruka — 1 year of eligibility left and no lock he’s a game changing player
Bethel — 1 year of eligibility left and has been solid but unspectacular thus far
Ford — 2 years left and hasn’t made the impact a lot of us expected, but it’s money time now. SHOULD turn the corner this year, but is this a lock everydown stud? No. Hopefully, yes. But hasn’t proven anything.
Jade — sophomore and he better be the player we all expect him to be. Expectations sky high and a kid we expect to count on.
Miller — Redshirt freshman. Who knows?
Martin — Stop it
Blissett, Harrison-Hunte, Holley — all true freshmen. No idea what to expect here yet.

So there’s 9 DTs on the roster. Lose at least 3 after this season. I get that there’s numbers here, but there’s not much proven at all. You’d sure as **** hope we can find 3-4 that can play at a high level, and you hope you hit on at least 2 of the 4 freshmen, at a minimum. But if a DT can play, I’m sure as **** not turning him away because of this depth chart.
Scholarship limits. You're allowed a maximum of 25 per year and 85 total. I believe there is still one spot available for an incoming 2019 player but the coaches would prefer to use that on an offensive lineman transfer as our depth there (especially at tackle) is far worse than at defensive tackle. Unless one of the DTs already on the roster transfers out (Martin...please????)after spring, they just simply can't afford to use another roster spot on an injury prone 10th defensive tackle.

If we only have one scholarship left to give per the rules, then it has to go to an OT first. Unless George Brown and Dykstra magically turn it on over the next couple of months, I'd even take two OL over any other spot. At least on of those guys is injured at any given time, and we don't have a two deep.

Chigozie graduates this month & will be here by May.

Plus we have 3 TF DT's coming between May/June/July. If he's injury prone why would we want him?

We're pretty stacked at DT & we need to leave a spot open for a potential GT OL after Spring.
Stacked with who? Names?

Quick question, if he comes in the Fall can he count toward next year's class instead of the 25 for this cycle?
