Haven't seen it discussed, maybe it's being overlooked with the obsession over the CFP and ACCCG but Mali is 91 yards away from breaking the freshman receiving record, already has the record for receptions by a freshman, and is 3 TDs away from tying Michael Irvin freshman receiving TD record of 9 and he didn't even have any in our blowouts over BC, USF, Syracuse or Stanford. Just insane how good this kid is at such a young age. "Generational" is often overused, but not with him. Best freshman in America, and it's not close.

Menace to CFB

Please stop running this dude up the middle
I want him healthy not beat to **** running zone read for four yards

The versatility is remarkable. What a threat. I'd like to see him take a snap in the gun and make a few throws; he's mostly running or handing off in the wildcat and teams collapse the box.

I'd love to see a condensed formation with all the WR in close, maybe on a 2nd&1 or 3rd&1 play with Mali taking a shotgun snap and lunging forward to fake the run and having a TE leak out similar to the Cam Ward to Arroyo play action TD against VT last year.

You’re talking about breaking tendencies, aren’t you?

You know we don’t do that. We have tendencies for a reason, and that will not change.

there's so much there really. Pretty exciting for the future of Mali and the canes.

Was just talking about this over the weekend, that Wildcat package has got to go if we're not going to have him throw out of it occasionally. Same as a few years back with Jaccurri Brown, same thing as a few before that with Dallas and a few years before that with Dallas Crawford...no point in running that formation unless we actually might throw.

Optimist side of me wants to believe Dawson has been setting up the play you're talking about.

Duke and AR were awesome their freshman years, full stop. But I haven’t seen a freshman at Miami take on as many roles and be our focal point offensively this quickly. So much fun to watch him and I don’t think it’s an overstatement to say that he could play a role in the CFP discussion. You think America doesn’t want to watch more of this guy???

Mali no doubt has a big role on the team, but I do think Duke has a better true freshman year.
Almost 1200 scrimmage yards, 900 kick/ punt return yards with 2 TDs, a passing TD, couple of receiving TDs.

That's hard to beat. Both are great and I'm glad both are Canes!
