Malcolm Bunche To Transfer

I wouldnt be shocked if rashawn scott ended up leaving too.

Many of you are morons. Do you know why Scott was suspened the last 3 or so games in 2012 and why he was suspended for last few games of 2013?

You want to know te answer? PM me.

Wasn't the 2012 one for hitting a girl? If he did it again and that's why he was suspended this year, he should be kicked off the team.

No excuse for that.

For the staff to not even put up a fight to keep him tell you all you need to know.

The same staff who didn't think Storm Johnson leaving was a big deal?

Storm Johnson wanted to start, he wasn't going to. What was the staff supposed to do? Lie to him, lock him in the equipment room?

And then go to the media and tell them how big of a deal it really is, how Miami is in trouble without him?

GTFOH.

NYSTOM is downer 247... Has no clue what is goin on

Want something positive? I think Ryan Williams is going to have a really good year for us and surprise a ton of people.

I don't want to put it out on the board. It's older news but only PM

The real problem is the Bunche is good kid, a hard worker and team player. It seems to be the exact type of player Al loves. Yet he is running. If he is not good enough to play, then Al needs to look hard at adjusting his idea of what a good player is. Bunche and Wheeler were close, maybe Wheeler leaving made this an easier choice for him. Hate to see the kid go.

So was Jimmy Gaines and AJ Highsmith.

No one on this board would have been upset last year if either transferred.

Thankfully they stayed, you know, for depth purposes.

Malcolm Bunche, who was expected to be a key piece of UM's o-line in 2014, has decided to transfer.UM gave him permission to contact schools

Two of the biggest stories of fall camp '12 -at the University of Miami have involved offensive tackles.

One has revolved around Seantrel Henderson’s ongoing absence; the other has centered on the emergence of true freshman Ereck Flowers.

Malcolm Bunche? He has quietly settled into his new job at left tackle, which could be the most important responsibility of all because he has to protect the blind side of quarterback Stephen Morris.

As for getting some attention, the 6-7, 323-pound redshirt sophomore from Newark, Del. — and strongest player on the team — wants to grab that when he and his offensive line teammates start barreling through opponents.

“I’m really excited, honed in, ready to go,” said Bunche, who served primarily as the backup to Brandon Washington at left tackle last season and made his only college start at right tackle in a loss to Virginia.

“I feel like I’ve been waiting for this opportunity forever. I just can’t wait to get out there and take care of our guys — Stephen, the running backs, every single one of them.”

After playing guard on the scout team during his freshman season in 2010, Bunche moved to tackle last season and saw action in eight games and roughly 106 plays, according to line coach Art Kehoe.

“He was the best lineman coming out of the spring,” Kehoe said last week. “He’s trying to stay healthy. I think it’s going to be a major thing for him to stabilize and play for us and do real well because he has lots of ability. He’s really working well with [left guard Jonathan] Feliciano, too, and I like that left side.”

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Bunche, whose father played in the NFL and whose mother is a personal trainer and powerlifter, isn’t your typical hulking lineman. Sure, he can put down large amounts of food. But his diet hardly consists of fast food, and he’s definitely conscious of his body-fat percentage. Asked Tuesday morning if he can remember the last time he stopped somewhere for a cheeseburger or something greasy, Bunche said he honestly couldn’t remember.

“I would say maybe the beginning of the summer. It was chicken nuggets,” Bunche said. “If I eat fast food, it’s usually Subway or Subs Etc. I try to stay away from McDonald’s. I got to be light on my feet, man.”

When Bunche isn’t busy pounding down “two chicken *******, a big bowl of salad, a bowl of fruit, yams or sweet potatoes, broccoli and spinach,” he’s usually lifting weights, studying film or asking sophomore Anthony Chickillo to go out for some extra one-on-one work.

“I pretty much go against Chick about 90 percent of the time,” Bunche said. “It’s always a battle. He’s a good guy. We help each other out.”

Bunche, who said he has made his biggest strides with hand placement in camp, lifted 225 pounds 36 times this spring. That would have been tied for the third-best mark at the most recent NFL Combine. Bunche said he has been focused on doing what his predecessor was good at, “running and making blocks down field in the second level.”

“He’s a big juggernaut, man,” Feliciano said. “We’re excited to see what he can do because he’s big, strong and smart.”

And funny, too, Feliciano said. “When Bunche laughs, everyone laughs,” Feliciano said. “He’s very loud. You hear his laugh and you know who it is.”

Now all coach Al Golden said he wants is for Bunche to cement his spot by showing “consistency with his pass set, consistency with his punch and his approach every day.”

“But Malcolm does a great job with his assignments and his execution,” Golden said. “We just have to keep moving forward.”

"Bunche, who said he has made his biggest strides with hand placement in camp" That hand placement technique! That one, the one that Kehoe says he's not too keen about, the one Kehoe says he's never seen done like they do it here now with Golden coaching... o ok, some player development for the most chiseled and strongest man of all UM players.

I agree there. **** rocket arms. Just give me a QB who is capable of puttin the ball where it needs to be, Pocket presence, lead targets, hit check downs and go through progressions. Seen too much of Jacory/Morris show

Remember when Stephen Wesley was kicked off by Shannon and then Henderson and track guy came in?

Also our MVP last year was a 5th year senior transfer.

Seniors with degrees transfer all the time.

Miami has gotten a few of those recently. Maybe it was time to give back.

Why is it huge news that a 5th year mostly back up wants to transfer somewhere he may be able to start?

Bunche has never been some kind of stud baller here.

Didnt we pick up 2 5th year transfers last year from other schools? Kid likely saw that it was his last year to maybe get noticed, and that there was little chance he was going to start. There is always attrition on the roster.

If you told me Denzel Perryman, or Tracy Howard or some major name was transferring, then I would say its very concerning. But a backup OL whose never been more than a JAG here? This is about playing time and nothing else.

“He was the best lineman coming out of the spring,” Kehoe said.

Sooooo, old Artie couldn't coach him up to a decent level, despite being his position coach for 3 years. Hmmmmn. Where have I heard that before?

The strongest player, the great work ethic, the leanest big man, yet he could not be turned into anything more than just 'not much'?

Good luck. He'll be missed as quality depth and be missed as a locker room, weight room guy. But he's given 5 years to the program and gets my /hatsoff.

Don't blame him. Get out of the dumpster fire while you can.

Meh, I'm on the **** Golden train too, but Bunche started every game in 2012 and lost his spot to Flowers in 13. He couldn't beat out Mongo or Linder and he couldn't even take the RT spot from underachieving Seantrel. ****, Jared Wheeler has more starts than Bunche. I don't think too much of this staff either and I don't like what's going on in Coral Gables, but I just don't think this kid isn't that good. I think as a 5th year senior he can transfer to a mid-level school and play right away (if he's graduated) and we can bring up Isidora, Gadbois, Sonny and freshman

Bunche will be drafted. He's a decent player. You never want a 5th year senior with talent to transfer.

We didn't give up many sacks this year, but when Morris felt early pressure it always seemed to come from #79's area.
Same with rb's getting blown up.

We have flowers, feliciano, McDermott, Isidora, gall, darling, McDermott, Knighton, wells, odogwu.

And we have an 82 scholarship cap with, as of now, 56 scholarship players returning, leaving room for 26 additions.

I'd expect some more dead weight to be cut loose, ala David Perry, whose going to be a 5th year senior and never sniffed the 2 deep.
