After spring practices ended for just about every team in the country, DraftKings released its post spring odds for the Heisman, and two Hurricanes made the list.

New Hurricanes quarterback Darian Mensah and sophomore wide receiver Malachi Toney both received odds to win the Heisman Trophy.

Malachi Toney and Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith are the only two wide receivers with DraftKings odds to win the Heisman. While, Mensah has the ninth-best odds to win the trophy, ranking as the No. 8 quarterback in the country, just behind Josh Hoover.

Mensah enters the season coming off a strong year at Duke, throwing for 3,973 yards and 34 touchdowns with just six interceptions in 14 games.

Toney is coming off one of the best freshman seasons in Miami history, totaling 109 catches for 1,211 yards and 10 touchdowns in 16 games while leading all freshmen in receptions and receiving yards. He earned ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year and FWAA Freshman All-American honors, becoming the first Miami freshman to surpass 1,000 receiving yards.

Heisman odds for Mensah ticked down to +1300 and it will drop more before the season begins because he should definitely be a top tier candidate. Mensah is a great passer and with elite weapons at Miami he is going to put up gigantic numbers for a team that is primed for 0 or 1 loss regular season. I'm expecing over on both 4,000 passing yards and 40 pass TDs.

Showdown with ND is going to be huge for Mensah's Heisman chances. They also look primed for a 0 or 1 loss regular season.

 

The last four Heisman winners have been transfers. Sign of the times, right? Fernando Mendoza (Indiana, 2025), Travis Hunter (Colorado, 2024), Jayden Daniels (LSU, 2023) and Caleb Williams (USC, 2022) all struck gold at different programs from where they originally signed, which is great news for the quarterbacks at Ohio State, Oregon, Indiana, Miami and LSU, should history repeat itself. Three of those elites added new signal callers this offseason, while returning starters Julian Sayin and Dante Moore for the Buckeyes and Ducks, respectively, were once transfers themselves.

Mensah Heisman odds now down to +1000. Will probably drop further before the season starts. Those odds were amazing at +1500 but still a buy now. No way is there a less than 10% chance Mensah wins the Heisman.
