Lots of morons here like to create drama. Fwiw Jon richt is a better coach or assistant than anyone on this forum....
B/C if you give coaches two free years, it usually turns into 4 or 5. Fans have a right to complain if they feel the staff is not up to our standard.
Or should we praise people that we think suck? Perhaps we should nickname Richt, "the Don".....until of course you decide that he's no longer good and then we can continue bashing?
our standard? the last time we sniffed a chance at a championship was 10 ****ing years ago and we lost to reggie ****ing ball. the only things that we've been nationally recognized for since then is anthony reddick swinging his helmet in a brawl and the shapiro scandal. we need stability before we can even think about national titles. you delusional ******** are acting like this is the handoff from butch to coker.
How long did it take UF to win a ship after Meyer was hired? How about USC with Pete? OU with Stoops? OSU with Tressell? OSU with Meyer? Bama with Saban? In each case, they either won a ring in year 2, or were in a BCS bowl year 2. Heck, Harbaugh turned Mich around instantly.
A good coach doesn't take years upon years to win big at a major brand program, particularly one that won 8 games the prior season.
alright, so you'll give richt 2 years to make the playoff? that's a high expectation, but that's not an unreasonable standard if you stay consistent. usc went 6-6 in pete's first year, bama went 7-6 (if you keep the vacated wins) in saban's, and florida went 9-3 in meyer's. 5 losses is the average between those programs in those coaches' first year. are you willing to shut the **** up if we stay below 6 losses next year?
yea butch Davis in 2000I don't see the problem with discussing the hires. I appreciate all informed opinions. Doesn't this board exist to discuss Miami football?
Because it's not discussion. It's complain about every single thing Richt does. I'm all for a debate about this or that coach or unit, but it's far from enjoyable to listen to people blame everything that happens or doesn't happen or might happen on the same guy. I'm still trying to get over everything being als fault, now, before having a chance to coach a game, everything is Richt's fault.
Is there another HC who hired 5 complete amateurs to his staff, plus the D'Onofrio of the West?

I wonder if Michigan fans complained this much when Jim added his son Jay Harbaugh to his staff.

Larry Coker--Not an elite hire. Here's where Coker was when Davis hired him as OC: 1993–1994 Ohio St. DEFENSIVE BACKS Coach;
1995 Ohio St. QB Coach.
Greg Schiano--Not an elite hire. Here's Schiano's immediate history prior to being hired: 1991–1995 Penn State DB Coach; 1996–1997 Chicago Bears Defensive Assistant; 1998 Chicago Bears DB Coach.
Dudzinski--Not an elite hire. Chud's background: 1994–1995 University of Miami (Graduate assistant).
Vernon Hargreaves--Not an elite hire. Hargreaves came to Miami after 13 seasons on the staff at the University of Connecticut, where he was outside linebackers coach from 1985-89 and inside linebackers coach from 1989-97.
Curtis Johnson--Not an elite hire. 1994 SMU (WR); 1995 Cal (WR). He had a good background but nothing earth shattering.
Kehoe--Not an elite hire. Kehoe was the TE Coach and an Offensive Line Assistant when Davis hired him.
Greg Mark--Not an elite hire. Mark was a GA at UM until 1994. He spent one year as Utah State's DL Coach and then Davis hired him.
Pagano--Not an elite hire. 1992–1994 East Carolina coached defensive backs and linebackers.
Soldinger--Not an elite hire. Was a HS Coach.

So there you have it. Our last great staff, which produced multiple HCs and coordinators, had ZERO elite hires when the hires were made. None of those guys were guys that anyone on here would have been jumping up and down about at the time they were hired. With the benefit of time and seeing their careers develop, we can see that several of them turned into great football coaches.
Hopefully, we'll see the same thing with some of Richt's "questionable" hires. You never know if Banda or Rumph might develop into the next Pagano for example. We had no idea Pagano was going to be the HC of the Colts when we hired him from East Carolina.
Good message, Franchise. Like I said in another thread... Can't we agree to at least give Richt and staff 4 games and then we can start fighting all over???

What good does it do to cry about it incessantly? It's over now. I can see debating it and hoping for certain guys to be hired and discussing the guys we hoped for BEFORE the actual hire is made.
But once those guys aren't hired, and Richt hires guys you don't like, why keep beating the dead horse? It's over now. The whining won't change anything. You've made your point, and you're going to look like the genius and the first to call it if everything goes to ****.
Richt Jr. is a coach on the staff. So are a few other green coaches. Does that mean they're going to suck or that we're going to suck? They might. We might. But what does incessantly whining about it now do other than make you annoy the fck out of most of these guys?
Richt knows what he wants. At his firing press conference, he openly regretted delegating too much of the actual offensive coaching to underlings. With this young and hopefully eager staff, he can be the big boss and clear leader with everyone pulling in the same direction. And they can be the energetic recruiters every great team needs to beat the bushes and be tireless and relate to young people.
He knows why he got fired too. This is the staff he put together in response to getting fired from a job he loved. He didn't hire these guys on a whim. He hired them for a specific reason. Will it work? We shall see. But it's over.

Dude. Couldn't agree more. Voice of reason. You've mellowed in the post golden era.

Nothing mellow about me, friend. It just gets ponderous seeing the same **** constantly regurgitated with no basis. If there's a basis, spell it out and discuss it. Like I said, the Diaz stuff discussing his specific shortcomings was great.
To take a guy like Duggans and just say he sucks or is too green with no basis for it is retarded.
Chise! I totally apologize, but why do you have dabo as your avatar?
