Make Your Argument: Ray Lewis as DC

Lol at calling Dorsey a lazy hire.

Not surprised at all that you would post that.

Dorsey is only mentioned because he played at Miami. No other fan bases are begging their ADs to hire the FIU Associate AD to run their offense. It's not just lazy, it's lazy AND stupid.

I care what a NFL superstar says about him

"He'll bring a newness and spark to FIU. Not only is he a hard worker, but he has a vibrant killer instinct. He's a known proven winner over the years."

And he doesn't coach a thing at FIU. Great post.

So you don't care if they can coach. You just want to make a splash.

What do you think the X and O’s part is referring too? That usually has nothing to do with being a motivator.

The splash hire is the outside of the box attention and attraction it would bring.

It’s a reason that guys like Bill Gates and Steve Jobd of the world are called pioneers. They were not afraid to be the 1st to try something different or new for a greater chance at succes.

Again what does Richt have to loose, he has lost most of the fan base anyway now, so try something edgy that will either be a home run and set the trend or at worst we will be mediocre like we are now

Like other people have tried to explain, plenty of former players know the X's and O's. Not all of them can relay that information to 18 year old kids or call plays while the play clock is running. It's a fan boy thing to say.

It’s quite the opposite I consider it forward thinking based on the situation we in. It’s just cliche and the scared of change mentality that has most people saying a move like this wouldn’t work. Some are made to set the trend others are made to follow.

My point is the right choice in this scenario can work not just any choice. My choice would be Ed.

Yeah, you can't promote stupid ideas and then hide behind "you're scared if you don't try something new".

And he doesn't coach a thing at FIU. Great post.

But he has held an NFL QB coaching job for five years, including one MVP season. And we've seen time again how NFL position coaches transitioned to coordinator jobs.

I get what you're saying, but Dorsey is a bad example here. I mean if Thomas Brown can go from a RB college coach to college OC, an NFL QB could do it too.

You act like Dorsey has only been in the front office since he left the playing field.

Back on to Ray Lewis. Guy was a special player and an all-time great. But he was very good at using his instincts and understanding where he needed to be within in the flow of the play. It's a whole new ball game when you have to game plan for 11 individual spots on the field. Not saying he can't do it, but it takes a different type of football mind to get it done. I'd like to see him or Ed Reed (another popular name around here) show they can do that in any capacity before we start handing them the keys or even flirt with the idea. We're not even considering the recruiting aspect of it yet.

Ray Lewis has a better chance of bringing Kangols back in style than scheming a college ready defense at this point.

Dorsey hasn't called one play in his life as an assistant coach, but here, take over.

The "Splash Hire" term is the dumbest concept I've heard in sport.
Totally useless.

I don’t know what to tell you besides you should look into marketing 101. You think our media covered wouldn’t increase exponentially with an outsid the box hire?

You know how money, marketing, and the media works right together right. Why do y’all think Bama got into the playoffs that year without winning their conference ship?

Such as "Ken Dorsey doesn't even coach". A real stretch, right?
Here is what Butch Davis said about Dorsey

“Having Kenny here is a really good thing for our athletic department,” Davis said. “He will have a role helping us offensively, watching film. He’s going to look at what we’re doing in practice and what we can do better.”

Probably the dumbest fckn argument.

Tell me. How many plays did Sean McVay call as a TE coach before he took over as the Redskins OC in 2014?

Actually as matter of fact, I'll wait for your majority example list of position coaches that called a single play before they got promoted to a coordinator position.

I don't even know how to respond to this.
Here, let me try this......."are you serious?"

Lol those without vision usually slander ideas that they can’t grasp. It’s a defense mechanism.

They are the same ones who jump on the bandwagon when the idea succeeds.
