Make Practice Difficult Again

Bro; Clemson has something similar. We really need to step our game up. I’m not a hater by any means, but the fact their recruiting center is set up like a high class car dealership is impressive af. I swear if I ever won the Mega or Power Ball, I would chit on the Soffers and dump hella money to re-build this program.

Their donors and admin care about football, in turn, that investment is turning them over hand and fist profits.

Here’s y I’m mad at Miami; they’ve forgotten our culture. This program have wasted more money trying to be cheapthan investing w/in the program and it’s killed us. Then they threw big money at a guy who fired for under performing. Just bad decision after bad decision. Maybe they should be sent these YouTube’s to see how other programs are ran, so they can get a clue. The IPF and the dorms are a start, but let’s get back to winning so we can post relevant stats as well.

That’s thing that blows my mind. It’s like the administration doesn’t realize how much of a return on investment they would get if the football program started winning. Bama’s football program brings in so much money because they win. Their student enrollment has like doubled due to this and their is no disputing that it is directly tied to the national appeal they have by winning football. A winning football program absolutely has positive financial gains for an institution. Miami needs to start investing in theirs or get left behind.

I have been in a couple of these facilities back in the day because of friends who played at Tennessee, Bama etc... but not recently. Bama was lapping people the last 10 years. Tennessee and a few others have some ridiculous facilities also. One thing Richt did try and bring was a nutrition table. I will give him that. The problem is, the university doesn’t have the money to compete with the big boys in regards to training and nutrition. If we can’t compete financially, the head coach has to be a dog and find ways to be creative and outwork the competiton to make up for the lack of other amenities. ****...Bama has a **** barbershop in their facility now. I know this isn’t what makes a player good but it seems one more perk that other schools don’t offer. All this helps with recruiting. Also the have a massive alumni base that grows every year due to the success for the football program. The amount of money pumped into that program is unreal. Here is a video showing your their facilities. It’s better than NFL teams for real.

Yeah; we need to step up but we gotta win to do this. All of this has happened under Nick’s watch. U can do this when you’ve won 5 in 9 and maybe 6 in 10.

True fact; I was very vocal about the whole switch from Adidas to Nike. Nike upped its offer, but would in no way match Adidas offer. I gotta frat who works for Nike and is a Canes fan. The reason Nike wouldn’t match Adidas was b/c, as he stated, ‘it’s like Miami stopped caring about who they were. They’re not making $ like that anymore. Once they do, then we’ll see.’

Man, that joint hurt to hear, but he’s right. We stopped caring about football, when it was football that defined and helped grow The University! I’m not sure what happened, how it happened, but they need to realize this before we become a footnote in history like a Yale or Harvard.

Whatever Manny needs, they need to pony that up. Invest in the football program, make it attractive again, and guaranteed the profits will be no less than 3 folds. Football is thee biggest revenue generator for any school. ****, even UAB AD (who I want), has made football the emphasis there and they are cashing in on upgrading bit by bit.

From my understanding it started with Shalala. She stopped investing in football. She was more concerned with making Miami a top school and Stanford like. Well now we are like Stanford. Average *** football program.

Millennials are in the NFL not college and high school and they seem to be doing just fine with honing their craft.
Learn your generations. The oldest millennial is a few years younger than you lol
Technically the Millennial generation started in 1980 so the dude is a Millennial!

What’s sad is that we’re not even on Stanford’s level for academics or football! Smh. Shaw’s been there 8 yrs, they’ve won 10+ games five times, won their division 5x, won their conference 3x and played in 4 NY6 bowl games going 2-2. Man, I thought I’d never say this, but I would kill for these results. Lol.

This is about the only thing you can do to replicate a game and improve our practices. Maybe move them to afternoon as well instead of morning.

The kids have to go to class so you either go relatively early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Nobody really goes 1s vs 1s. You can do that in the spring, but in the fall and once the season starts your 1s are going against scout replicating your opponent for the week.

It's not rocket science. You play how you practice.

Hence, I hope Diaz changes some of our bad habits and pushes these kids like no one has in their lives. The elite coaches know how to motivate and demand the best from their kids. One example, when you don’t use all the practices allocated to you and you’re 7-6 then there is a serious problem with your strategy.

Diaz is an intelligent man and knows Miami history. Can Diaz establish the difficult camp/practice tradition that make Saturday’s feel easier then the rest of the week? I haven’t heard a single player say our practices are more difficult than games since the early 00’s. I’m curious to see what changes Diaz does with our conditioning and practices.

A lot of rule changes since the 90's make that nearly impossible.

And it does hurt us.

South Florida kids are far less mature than kids from most places. We used to have football dorms, we used to practice twice as often... we used to live, eat, and breathe football. Jimmy, Howard, Butch.... those guys were legit hardasses.

South Florida kids need that structure more than most. Otherwise, they start to lollygag. What you get today is pornstar QB's who don't watch game film.

If you're asking some kid from Miami to buckle down, study the playbook, keep their body in shape, manage classes and training.... and you're asking them to do it all on their own without discipline or supervision.... yeah that's a recipe for disaster.

Since we're making changes on other people's jobs...lets increase the difficulty of doing YOUR job 2X and cut the time to do it in half.

OK, newsflash: They never cared. Tad Foote hated it. Hired Paul Dee, his lawyer to hire coaches. The team was successful despite the lack of effort. Geography created the microwave dynasty. Other schools caught on and internet video became a thing. Money skyrocketed everywhere else.

It’s why the Chinese admiral just stated that America is scared of war and scared of casualties. We have ALL become soft as a country/culture
maybe so , but when the shooting starts things will change, there's a reason they haven't tried it yet

Lol; oh no doubt. Touch less is an understatement. We can look at other programs and modify things to enhance, u dig. But we gotta start winning first. We gotta build up our alumni base again. We gotta pump out NFL players that can help reinvest in this program, as well. But totally agree.
I still think recruiting has to change. Instead of holding Herman waiting for kids you know are not coming, take another kid who is a good player, the "shadow recruit". I have beaten this to a pulp and the fire hydrant is yellow from walking around this block so much so I will stop now.

"Modify to enhance", I do dig. People don't want to hear this but build a program that can make a run every few years. Have a huge season every five years or so were it all comes together and the years in between we are on the doorstep or building towards something. Have a product that is cool and fun to watch. The offense the past few years was so boring. My wife would know they were going to hand the ball off on the right and the back would run left... I am so used to the middle of the field being used by a surgeon living up here that I lose it wondering why Miami does not use the middle of the field. Four years ago, the D was horrible. Make it stop!

Exactly, my guy. That is actually spot on. And you are right, we do have to change up the recruiting aspect.

Practices in the 90s at UM were pure Savagery.....Especially 98-2000......You'd have thought it was a game....
