It’s not often that a program gets to correct a HC hire mistake so quickly and without severe financial penalties.
This process should be simple and should only encounter complication if Mario or Butch turns down the job offer.
We have two guys that we know are elite at recruiting and understand the advantages and disadvantages of our university and how to recruit south Florida players.
We need jimmys and joes first and foremost to go along with good coaching in order for us to regain prominence. Mario and Butch are sure things when it comes to recruiting and we must start there because I doubt that our adminstration knows how to elvaulate if a coaching candidate is elite at Xs and Os (which is the only other way we can get back to winning at a high level without elite recruiting).
Make Mario and/or Butch turn the job down before we start making this coaching search complicated and looking for the new hot name in coaching.
In addition these are realistic options unlike Urban who I’m sure we all would love but he ain’t coming.
I’m not saying that a Manny Diaz, Matt Campbell, or etc. wouldn’t turn out to be good hires, but we need to be sure that our coach is elite at something and Mario or Butch solves that.
