Make Barkate compete for a stating job

Yeah the Bucs brought in an old Gronk with Brady, whom Brady was comfortable with, when they had studs like Godwin and Evans.

Certainly backfired…. 🙄

If defenses have to split their focus between Barkate and Toney, that only helps Mensah, Toney and hopefully Moore.

No one other than Toney and Barkate are proven commodities. Look what happened with Trader who was anointed preseason last year and when we lost Daniel’s for a few weeks, Toney was getting mugged.

You want your QB comfortable with a WR, like Ward and Restrepo.
Having Toney makes us dangerous.

If Moore takes the next step, we’re going to have the best receiving corp we’ve had in decades.
Jojo was cheeks and no one would say it but me day 1. I knew he was one of those transfer dudes the minute we got him. But people loved him cause he was a cool kid (which I agree) and he was a sfla legend. Thats the reason, he had a big fan base since HS and that was the only reason people wanted him to succeed here. He will do some damage at NCState but the ACC is cheeks I expect him to do something there they have no depth. He is a roster filler imo, JS was the crown jewel and the rest were meh.

I said the same thing about Chance, we were going to recruit over them and thats what we did. If Coleman never plays QB here it will be the same crowd that will ***** and moan over it, meanwhile we will have a first round QB playing while they cry about it.

Bench the guy who was 2nd team all-ACC, has had two 1,000 yards season in a row, and has incredible chemistry with our quarterback! It's a solid plan!
One thing I will say is it's very different to be a 1k receiver at Duke as one of very few options than it is to be one here with a solid 2 deep. He definitely needs to compete for that job. Wouldn't care what he did elsewhere. Here EVERYONE NEEDS TO COMPETE...

He's not gonna be the back up. If anyone should get a shot that better be Nickel. We gotta prove to highschool QBs they'll get a legit chance to play. Otherwise let's just stop wasting serious resources on them. Cause we have.

They better show out in practice because I believe if they dont play then there is a reason. Most difficult position to evaluate is QB, they can look all world in HS but when the lights come on in college its a different animal. And if they cant play with better competition the coaches will know it and go portal, I believe if they find a Mensah or Ward in HS they will play them.

The reason we haven't played ANY high school QBs at this point falls entirely on staff. We don't give any burn to the room as a whole. We devote all of our energy entirely on starting QBs. Very few reps going out to back up QBs. Definitely not 3rd string. That's one thing I'm tremendously disappointed in this staff over is we don't have a dedicated QB coach. That falls on Dawson and he for obvious reasons can't take time for that. Gonna backfire on us if we ever have to play back up.

Malachi is an Unknown? Moore is an unknown? Beard doesnt really rotate guys anyways.. If you read my post, I am not opposed to bringng in vets, but 3 guys when we already have Malachi and dont usually rotate alot of guys doesnt seem right.. I can see this like the Corner room for spring, which is fine but there is no second portal for them to do like Karnley.. Gonna be stuck like that Mich state kid..

Tomorrow the battle begins..
Do you want to win championships or worry about a kid who doesn’t have the talent to get on the field?

UM is not summer camp. If you are good you will play. We want to get to a place where only the best play.

Coaches’ success & retention based on winning football games. Unless I’m wrong, we’ve unfortunately had very few instances where outcomes were decided early & could comfortably turn it over to backup QB. May have 2-3 blowouts a season, if that. Dedicate QB coach isnt impacting that.

The backup qb's haven't exactly been talented. How much could you 'develop' Emory? We know Judd's a project (longshot). Year 5 for Mario, and now we have a couple guys (Nickel & Coleman) to develop. To be determined, imo.

I dont care that Barkate went for over 1k at Duke last year. I worry that he will be the security blanket for Mensah. I think Vaughn, Moore and Jacobs are all better and more dynamic. Ideally, my WR starters are Mali, Vaughn, Moore as starters and Jacobs in 4 wide sets. I will never hope for an injury to any player, especially a Cane, but I think it would be better for the team if Barkate gets real comfy on the bench.
U let some of them off the hook with that last bad 🤦🏾‍♂️ sentence
