Major Injury to ND Player

Former #1 WR in the country (Julian Fleming) just killed the girl he was going to marry in Northern PA about a month ago riding an ATV when they hit a deer. I dont think either had helmets on. Deer died on the scene as well. Cant imagine living with that anguish. Things happen so quickly

TrumpyCane wonders if there are any updates on Hayes

When we played them in 2017 they were touting Quentin Nelson and Mike mglinchey but we had a much better defensive line that year. Norton and RJ in the middle. That was a stout front.
We have no idea YET how Scott & Blay will be compared to norton/Mcintosh But Remember Scott was a 5 ⭐️ and Blay had a very good year last year, in Hethermans defense I think our Dline feasts similar to how it did in 2017/2018

Heathermen is about to have the most talent he’s ever had to play with, I for one am very very excited to see what he does.

All joking aside… I still think ND wins by 10.
Jagusah was playing RG. He is elite, but has only played in 4 games in his career. It’s not like ND was counting on him to be the savior of the OL. They have three 5 Stars behind him.
Miami’s weakness is up the middle on D. ND will still run it up the middle. The backup is 6’8, 330 & really good.
ND’s secondary is elite. LBs are elite. And they are bringing back 4 dudes on the DL who were starters last year at some point.
I see a score of 27-17 range.

Roast me now. LOL
But then after roasting me, tell me why I’m wrong (with actual football reasons).
Too many unknowns for both teams for anyone to really know how it play out with any kinda certainty at this point. this is one of those games where the outcome will became apparent by the time halftime rolls around.

ND has a great OL-Huge loss for them but, I’m sure they have a quality replacement-

Our DL needs to play much better this year-If it looks like last year ND will pound us to death.
The problem ND is going to have is we're going to throw all over them. They're going to fall behind and then have to lean on a young QB who will be in the loudest environment he might ever play in.

You might be right, and I hope you are, but I'll just say this....if we had the best corner in the country (as ND does), we wouldn't expect anyone in America to "throw all over us". I'll just leave it at that.

I know both teams probably as well as anyone. I don’t expect a ton of scoring, so it will be hard for anyone to win by 10 unless they win the turnover battle and/or make big plays in special teams. That’s the only likely scenario where I see Notre Dame winning by 10 or more and the same for Miami. These teams are a wash, offense v defense in this game. The team that executes better on special teams and in turnovers is the likeliest winner. Notre Dame is a favorite because their culture prior to this year was to create plays on defense and special teams and ours was not.

Yeah let’s be real. Their secondary is nasty. Freeman knows what he is doing there as he had a Great secondary at Cincy as well. No chance we throw all over them with a new qb and basically a whole new receiving core. This game has the makings of a low scoring affair. and if it is that means our defense has improved.

Intangibles. Hard rock stadium. She will return again. If at least not for the first 5 minutes.

The problem with this is we have multiple weapons they will have to cover and none of them will be able to contain Elija Lofton. I think our Offense is going to be very hard to stop IMO. We just need to get up on them early and let them try to come back with their young QB which will play right into our hands.

If Tyler Shough can throw for almost 300 yards and 3 TD's at ND I'm sure Beck will be able to throw all over them.

I'll say this much: anyone who paid attention to the last time ND played in the Rock saw that they just missed a long TD early in the game, then the TO's snoballed and the game was over. Watch, I believe it was their first or second drive, and he overthrows the guy by inches, could have been a completely different ballgame.

Agree and that will most likely happen with turnovers from pressuring their QB. I do think most Canes fans don’t understand how talented and experienced this Notre Dame team is. If they had an experienced QB, they would be the #1 team in the nation. They are likely a full year older on average than the canes and very battle tested. We will need Hard Rock to create some chaos that rattles their young QB, and we will need to execute in all phases.

This is, genuinely, a game that I can’t really get a good read on. Last year, I was 100% certainly going into the sWaMp that we were going to beat the dogs**t out of Florida. This year, there are way more variables such as:

-How does Beck look? By all accounts his rehab has gone well and he’s looked good (but that’s with limited information and no spring).
-Who emerges at WR? RB and OL are rock solid, but WR is a huge question mark. Does Daniels break through? Does JoJo become the guy? Which TR FR makes an impact?
-TE looks good, but still have questions there. Will Lofton be the next great TE U star, or is he just another Green Tree AA?
-Does Toure return to all B10 form pre-injury? Does our completely revamped secondary take a step up, how about the D as a whole with Heatherman?
-How does ND look with two new coordinators?
-How does their QB making his first ever road start respond to a very very hostile environment?

This game strikes me as one that’ll end up being a 30-21 type result for either side. Like most games, whoever wins in the trenches is going to win this game. Beck is the better and battle tested QB. We need him to be good to win. Winning this game automatically gives us a marquee win, something we lacked last year.

dont let our players ride utv, atv's or high powered scooter. They are an accident waiting to happen
ANY electric or gas powered vehicle that's not a car. Does anyone need a reminder as to why Vinny Testaverde missed the final game of the 86 season before the Fiesta Bowl?

Freeman's specialty is the secondary and we're breaking in 8 new starters on offense, including a QB who did not have the benefit of a full spring. ND will have had all offseason to game plan against Dawson's offense. This will be a low scoring week 1 **** fest imo.
