I think also, despite being 29 when he failed at Bama (and being too young for that job), Saban was not also remotely open to any sort of spread concepts back then. His offensive philosophy was straight physical run game and play action pass when he came back to college and Bama was not yet Bama that first year in terms of team talent. Not even close.

At least it's not coley ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Pretty much this.

Apples wasn't who I wanted or anywhere near the top of my list.....but whatever, if Manny is convinced I'll give him a chance.

It's partly reassuring in that Manny doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that's going to put up with a lack of performance. If Apples faceplants, Manny won't hesitate to can his *** quickly.

Let's go **** it.

Up tempo, fast, explosive spread
Tom Herman influenced playbook, he literally sat him down and taught him how to run his system and then applewhite called plays for Houston while he was there and did well including beating #9 fsu and #3 Oklahoma

This system will fit very well in Miami....

Spread days are here

I see a lot of quarterback clapping in this offense...looks familiar...

I'm OK with this. Interestingly, I feel similar about this hire as I did when Manny Diaz was originally hired as DC:
  • See a track record with some areas of concern that keep me cautious
  • Optimistic about his upside given his youth and seeming intelligence
  • Excited about the prospect of an innovative scheme
  • Appreciate the coaching circles he's been involved in
  • Annoyed by the posters on CIS acting like the sky is falling
All in all, I'm cautiously optimistic.
