My understanding is Temple is starting interviews next week so doubt they’ve hired him

I'm all in on Applewhite. There's more upside than downside.

Downside:

1.) Experience.
2.) Record as an HC
3.) Ugly as sin.

Upside:

1.) Young innovator with a scheme that complete suits our players.
2.) Success as an OC
3.) Long-term option vs Fedora as a short-term rental. I like the Fedora idea and wont be unhappy with bringing him in either.
4.) Access to a very fertile recruiting ground in Texas, especially their QBs and OLs.
5.) Hungry with alot to prove.
6.) Very cerebral, and very structured.
7.) Strong recruiting acumen and prowess. The recruiting connections he brings are exactly what we need.
8.) Ugly as sin

I really don't want to settle. I'd love to get Fedora. Even though I'm still a big believer in the pro style offense, the harsh truth is this is not the 2001 Miami Hurricanes.

We do need to go to the spread. Even the pros now have spread wrinkles in them now.

Whether it be Applewhite or Fedora, they are both likely to score more than 14ppg.

I feel ya. Im just not convinced bringing Applewhite in could be classified as "settling". James Coley? F yeah, but there's alot of upside with AppleShcnapps.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt until he officially announces his offensive staff. But I reallllly hope its legit.

His defensive staff has 3 of homeboys and 1 coach older than 39.

If he hires Applewhite, both coordinators will be his homeboys. Then there's the Ponce and Sedrick Irvin rumors. Applewhite, Ponce and Irvin would be golden level rough. That's one homeboy, one conference USA coach and one high school coach. It's EXACTLY what golden did.

So lets hope the offensive staff starts with fedora and works its way down well.

Yeah but as position coaches...Banda and Patke were solid. As for Baker...look at the numbers for his turnovers since he has been at LaTech....he knows what he is doing.

Sedrick Irvin is not getting hired as a coach.... Major Applewhite, while a homeboy is a smart young playcaller that can actually coach QBs since he was one....something we have lacked
