Mack playing chess

We're laughing but looks like Mack's about to beat Dabo (and Kirby) out for a 5 star DL- Travis Shaw - clemson thought they had locked down. The last three standing are Clemson, UNC and UGA. He's taken an OV to UGA and visited Clemson. At UNC this weekend for his OV. Seems the handwriting is on the wall for him to end up at UNC - even Clemson Anna had to switch her cb....

Ok. They’ll still never be able to catch us talent wise. There’s too much competition for all the talent in that state.
 
Mack can croot. He can’t coach. Now he has UNC which is willing to do whatever it takes to win so he’s very dangerous and will have them formidable for the foreseeable future

UNC is becoming a real rival and games for years now have been getting personal and heated, that's a good thing in my view. Mack has exceeded my expectations by far, he has recruited great and hired good coaches to do the coaching.

That being said, still a very beatable team for us, and our recruiting has kicked up a notch at just the right time.

Yup, the cake walk in the coastal is over…

UNC is a legit team that’s got talent… but we need to beat them this year to make it a rivalry

Brown has beaten Diaz like a drum every time they play? Exaggerate much? UNC won by 3 in 2019 at home because our kicker lost the ability to kick FGs.

You think Miami was more talented than UNC last year?

They had a better QB, the best RB duo in America, waaay better WR’s than us, better OL, and far better LB’s.

Agreed. That comment made no sense. Since brown has been there he has closed off far more talent relative in that state than we have here. Granted there is more talent in Florida but the original comment made no sense.

plus the addition of Tony Grimes last year created a huge Virginia connection for them because of his fathers high school
connections. They have commitments from multiple top 20 Virginia guys now with more to come, too (seriously in it for Zack Rice) and Virginia is a loaded state in talent.

But as mentioned above, Diaz did a great job each year upping the recruiting capability of this staff. Should be a great rivalry for the next few years at least.

If Mack does what he did in Texas he’ll have Top 10 recruiting classes perennially. He’ll have UNC at 9-10 wins perennially. But he won’t win a NC without a NFL quarterback. He had Vince Young and over two years was 25-1 with him, and then essentially lucked into Colt McCoy. Without Colt and Vince they treaded water, even though they had highly touted quarterbacks. He had better hope that whoever comes after Sam Howell is not just an eight star QB, but also someone who develops enough to be drafted in the top 3 rounds.

Their backup, Criswell, is similar to King with a big arm. They also just brought in a big 6'5 5* QB last cycle.

In this case, I’m a little Leary on star stats. Garrett Gilbert and Chris Simms were five star quarterbacks and while good, were not difference makers for UT. For that matter, Kevin Olsen, Jack Allison, Jarred Williams, Jacory Harris, Robert Marve, and N’Kosi Perry were all four star quarterbacks and none were transcendental. So while Mack is recruiting well to replace Howell, there is no guarantee that the next quarterback is a guaranteed Top 5 first round draft choice.

But we have 20x the talent pool. It’s apples to oranges. It’s deep in NC but you have NC St, WF, Duke, Clemson, South Carolina, VT, UVA, West Virginia, UGA, GT, schools like Penn State, Pittsburgh, and Maryland as well. Florida schools recruit NC as well.

Saying UNC has less talent rn and over the last couple years Is likely the dumbest statement of the month..at least top 10
