Since I didn't see anything posted about this, I thought I would let the board know that Gonzaga, led by Chris Lykes, capped off its sharing of the WCAC (the DC-area Catholic league) regular season title by also winning the WCAC tournament on Monday night against Paul VI.
Yes, I know that most prep stars are expected to lead their teams to championships, but in the WCAC nothing is a given.
By the way, Lykes scored 20 in the 68-55 win.
And he was named WCAC player of the year for the second time, while averaging 17.7 points/game.
And he shot 83% from the charity stripe this season.
(Wish I had stats on assists and turnovers, but those are a it lacking at the high school level.)
Just a little encouragement (and supporting stats) for those lamenting our current PG situation.
