Luginbill compares Yearby, Cook and Michel

Sony Michel (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage) and Joseph Yearby (Miami/Miami Central) are actually very similar in both style and talent, which is why they are so close in the ESPN 300 rankings. Michel gets the edge with slightly more size and lower-body power, but has also had more of a history of being dinged up, which is a bit concerning.

The reason why these two are so similar is because they look very much alike in how they run the ball — low to the ground with sudden lateral agility and explosive second gears once they get to the second level.

Dalvin Cook (Miami/Miami Central) is a different type of guy, though. The more we study him, the higher ceiling we believe he has. He reminds us of last year’s Dontre Wilson, now at Ohio State. We make this comparison because Cook is such a dynamic athlete that he could easily be recruited as a receiver or corner, which is what makes him so attractive. This gives coaches options with Cook. He possesses just about every desirable trait you look for in a running back, including ball skills.

As to who makes the biggest impact, that is impossible to determine at this point. So much of that answer is dependent upon who makes the right choices in school, scheme and taking advantage of an opportunity when it presents itself. I do honestly feel all three are capable of making an impact, and early. Dare I say we like Yearby more than Duke Johnson coming out? Yes, we do.

--SMH---We are a fun fanbase, I tell ya

If they say Sony is better than JY -- we b** and moan and say they're biased against UM

If they say Cook is better than JY OR Duke -- we b** and moan and say they're biased against UM

They say that Yearby is better than Duke coming out and what happens? --we b** and moan and say they're biased against UM and say that dont know anything ... whew

I'm just glad we have a **** good RB that WANTS to come to UM... there -- im done

nobody said anything about Luginclueless being biased against UM.... I basically implied that he's a clueless dumbass who doesnt know wtf he's talking about.

Yearby is nothing like Michel PERIOD

and Duke Johnson was better out of high school then Michel, Cook, and Yearby.

None of the recruiting sites gave Duke Johnson his proper respect b/c he committed to UM when Miami was a down program. If he had committed to most other programs during that time they wouldve been on his nuts.

I am just glad that one of them is gonna be on my team....

The fact that we will have Duke and Yearby in one year possibly two...is amazing as well
no complaints from me :)

I saw Duke play in a couple of playoff games, he was the best I have ever seen, period. He probably had 1200 yards in the 4 playoff games. He started off slow in the muck, one guy sitting next to me kept saying, just watch, it will happen. Holy crap did it ever.

When Yearby carries his team to a state title like Duke did then holla at me. Yearby is not even close to as good as Duke was

When Duke was a senior at Norland, Yearby had more rushing yards than him as a sophomore and Duke ran for 2000+ that year.

Yearby was the leading rusher in Dade as a sophomore. Yearby is plenty good.

Unrustle your jimmies boys. Luugs didn't say he thought Yearby was better than Duke. Only said they likes what they see more out of Yearby than what they saw of Duke.

Didn't say anything wrong here. They liked Duke, but like Yearby even more.

Love Yearby but this dude is out of his mind. With that said, I'm more than happy for Yearby to prove me wrong when he dons the orange & green.

Some of you guys are sounding like Yearby couldnt even hold Dukes jock strap..Like its almost disrespectful to mention them in the same breath. I dont agree with that. Yearby has earned his stripes in Dade. Period.

I was really impressed when I saw Yearby on film, great vision and good balance. Duke is a bad man. Man Duke's film was awesome and it transferred to the college game. I think it is great that the Canes will have 2 elite backs and very good underated one in Powell!

Don't really see the comparison between Yearby and Michel, both are great but with completely different styles IMO. But can't argue with too much else there, you can't go wrong with either of them.

Luginbill thought Duke should play CB in college, so that really isn't saying a whole lot.

I love Yearby and think he's a stud, but he's not Duke. Michel and Cook aren't either. All studs, but just a notch behind Duke as a HS player and college prospect.
