Why does Miami's CB have outside leverage when playing man? Seen it a few times now where they basically give the WR a clean get off to the inside. Many times with no safety help.

Bc we play cover 1 when we play man. In C1 your help (low hole and deep middle) is inside.

I also would guess (though im not sure) that we play our leverage depending on how wide the receivee is split. Pretty standard practice these days.

So LB not getting enough depth?

In some cases they have been flat out turned around, and not just Mccloud, Quarterman too

uld be. Also if OP is referring to CBs coming off crossers entirely then thats probably our 2-read coverage. Either way the interior zone defender (C1) or defenders (2-read) have to cut off those crossers.

I've seen Shaq get turned around once...against Virgina... SAM Backer was out of the box... WLB was going on a blitz the back came out of the back field to the flats to the left... it's Shaq's man until he saw a crossing route coming behind him he realized that the WLB was gone to he had to spin to carry the crosser... should never show your back to the QB... that play he was damned if u do or damned id you don't... If he would have been deep enough not to spin to carry the crosser then he could not reach the back out of the back field in the flats ... because of that play call... traditionally the MLB comes off the field in a dime Manny leaves Shaq on and take the other LBs... It's chess and a lot of people are thinking Checkers... Sometimes we run schemes to direct the ball to where we want it to go with stunts and blitzes when they don't work we get toasted... it's Football
