Out of state prospects need more immediate playing time compared to local or more southern based kids with family close by. If they don't play that homesickness starts to become more present.

There’s a stigma around Cali kids especially down here in South Florida. I’ve heard a bunch of kids talk about it..

looking back at past recruiting rankings, there does seem to be a low hit rate for cali 5 stars D-lineman:

I thought Miami only landed two 5* Phillips and Lowe from the west coast? That's not a bad percentage at all imo.... in the past several 4* DE outgoing transfers were from the state of Florida...

I just remember what stood out for me on Lowe.

When he was an early enrollee or when he enrolled here and a reporter asked Rueben Bain about him...

his first words were...

"That boy is crazy"...or something similar... That always stood out to me as how Bain said it tongue and cheek. lol
