Louisville Post Game Plus/Minus

Games are won and lost in the trenches.

Our lines suck. The OL was atrocious. The DL was improved, but that's a low bar measuring against the past two seasons. Still can't get any pressure with just four rushing.

Difficult to evaluate skill positions on offense with the offensive line performance. The back seven on defense seems improved. I mean, there were actually defenders within 5-10 yards of the receivers in the middle of the field.

I so wanted my glass half empty (ok, plain empty) outlook to be proven wrong. Not tonight. .500 team at best. So many coaches, especially the coordinators are so in-over-their heads. Miami shouldn't be a school for "on the job training programs." We deserve better.

don't understand how this staff doesn't adapt and utilize the strengths of the team. Also, if going to run a true frosh out there, mistake are going to happen, let the kid figure them out and work through it. But don't put the **** handcuffs on him and not let the kid throw.

Sad. Just really really sad.

O-Line: horrendous. Gave Duke nothing and Kaaya even less.

Play calling: horrendous. Mostly predictable with a little "you gotta be ******* kidding me" sprinkled in. i lost count of the number of times we PA rolled out kaaya into 2 louisville defenders. or ran duke johnson into a brick wall.

Defense: actually played better than last year. but that's the problem with this system - the ceiling is "better than last year". this has been discussed ad nauseum. the scheme will not allow for a great dominating defense. the scheme does not permit us to take advantage of the supremely talented and athletic kids we have. but you can feel the unrest with the players. they are not happy with it. and this jives with what people have reported with some defensive recruits - they don't want to play in it.

Golden: after 4 years a team most certainly has the culture a coach desires, an attitude reflective of the coach. our players seemed neutered.

Kaaya: can't put any blame on him. missed a few opportunities. had some bad throws. all to be expected for a freshman in a tough road game and no offensive line. maybe i'm off base, but it seemed like at least a few of the players are non-plussed that he's our QB. and that sucks.

Rare positive: Berrios should be fun to have for 4 years.

i'm not entirely convinced that we win versus FAMU.

and it all has to do with coaching.

i know we can out-talent them... but our coaching is horrendous.

The great coaches do more with less.

The average coaches do more with more and less with less.

This staff does less with more. And that, in a nutshell, is the problem.

The only plus from this game is that we're one game closer to the end of Golden's tenure here.

We're right back where we were Randy's last year here......loving our team but knowing that losses, in the long term scheme of things, are probably better for this program right now than meaningless wins.

I hate our identity. If things went perfect for Golden we'd be, at best, a mirror image of a Wannstedt coached team. Even if everything was operating at full capacity we'd be playing close, conservative games and winning a bunch of 16-13 games.

Get these losers the **** out of here already.

I'm not going to whine and be negative because I'm an adult, and I know that its Golden, Dno, and Coleys fault for their mismanagement of talent. Until they go, I dont expect anything else from them.

I feel that the players really dont agree with their schemes and ideologies but have to conform to it.

I never see players praising the coaches. Only recruits and commits.

I only got to see most of the first half but to me the defense definitely looked improved.

The defensive backs seemed to be breaking up a lot more passes and playing physical. I couldn't even tell who was on the field (tiny TV) but that's what it seemed like to me. What did the second half look like?

The punter was impressive. Thought that was going to be an issue.

I'm not putting any blame on Kaaya. He is 18 years old and not only was it his first game, but it was a hostile road game. I'd be on edge too. If it continues to be an issue for these next two games, then i would play Heaps.

Uniforms looked good. Cleats and socks were clean. Everyone had on green undershirts. Helmets shined.

Unless the better players get playing time, and the coordinators make major changes, I believe we will be a 6-6 team this year. A true tragedy with the amount of talent we have. Maybe that will set in motion Golden and crews departure.

Keep your heads up.

This game came down to the two fumbles in the red zone. How we only come away with 3 points is unreal. Terrible play calling

Our team got straight punked all game long. There is no passion, fire, fight, dawg or balls on this team. Louisville was talking **** to our team all day long, trying to start a fight and we just backed down with our tails between our legs.

Yeah.....as fans that's as annoying as ****, however, I'm more concerned with our **** getting consistently pushed in BETWEEN the whistles, not after.
