Just happened to be browsing through channels trying to get my mind off D Wades departure and stumbled on a LTech vs Western Kentucky game. Manny Diaz's defense was NASTY!! They were EVERYWHERE. Didn't look into the stats of WKU, but manny had 3 players with 10+ TFL and two dudes with 6 sacks each. He had 24 sacks total on his unit and 13 picks just last season. They hung 58 on WKU by the beginning of the 4th. With Wade gone and me never being a dolphin fan (Giants), this is my hope for the city of Miami. I hope this translates to The U.

That WKU team scored at least 34 for 9 straight games (longest streak in the nation at the time) and scored only 10 by halfway through the 4th quarter

Everyone always talks about his tenure at Texas, which did suck there's no denying that, however are there any "good" Defenses in the Big XII?
But before Texas, he actually did a terrific job at Miss St & Midd Tenn St.
During his tenure at Midd Tenn, they lead the conference in Sacks & TFL's & in 09 had the #6 ranked defense in the country.
He also put a bunch of guys in the league from their, which is a pretty difficult thing to do.
Same goes for Miss St, against SEC competition mind you, he managed to build Miss State's defense up to top 20 in the nation & was 13th in Red Zone D. Now, that's not the 00-01 Ravens or anything, but that's FAR better than anything we're used to here in Miami over the last decade.
I think he'll do a great job here, and the scheme change will have an immediate impact on the defense.
A lot more pressure upfront on the interior, way more Sacks off the edge, much improved run defense & overall more turnovers.

We will know after the nole game if dude has the goods. I think Kool might be big enough difference to make him look good -- there is no substitute for a QB peeing himself as he runs for his life.

If you have a chance they keep showing the games on fox sports 1. Currently I'm watching LTech and north Texas and I'm in the west coast.

That defense also led the nation in picks and passes defended in 14-15. #15 on the team had 3 picks last season and took them all to the house. Hopefully Banda can shore up those defenses

Simple answer to his UT tenure after the first 2 years, try to find more than 3 NFL prospects

I'm okay with giving up a big play occasionally if it means we make big plays and have a chance to flip the field. Our best player is our quarterback.. he needs the ball in a scoring zone.
