Lou Holtz

Getting older is weird. I'm not even "that old," but I can feel things like compassion entering my mind (and I don't like it). I HATED Lou Holtzsch as a coach. I hated Bobby Bowden as a coach. However, we need our villains to make our Canes shine. When Bobby died, it felt like a small piece of me and my memories went with him. I was sad. Not sad like when a family member or close friend died, but still sad. This is no different with Lou.
Here's what stays the same though:

I was never a fan when he was a coach, especially at ND, but I went to a speaker series, and he was one of the speakers, and he was great, seemed like a good man.

I was at South Bend in 1988 when they stole the national championship from us

but after he left the Irish, really loved Lou Holtz

he is a great man and will be missed. better than Bobby Bowden!

As a long time canes fan I have nothing bad to say about him. Good coach good human being, he just wore the wrong laundry. Prayers up coach Holz.

Lou is, was a good man. I wish his loved ones well as someone who has been through plenty of this. This should bring out compassion in people over sports competitiveness. I was saddened to learn of this yesterday.

Lol. Can we stop with the he's a good human thing? Sure he was a good coach but his support for Jesse Helms and his overt racism made the people of Arkansas uncomfortable.. in the 80's. He didn't change much.

I hope he passes peacefully because everyone deserves that much.

Bummed for his family like I would for any family losing a husband, father, and grandfather. I hope he goes peacefully. Other than that?

Catherine O'Hara's loss will affect me more. She gave me much more enjoyment in life.

Nothing sounds worse than a Lou Holtz speaker series other than maybe a Manny Diaz speaker series

Friend of mine played for him at uSC. He'd have his players lay down on the locker room floor while he gave motivational speeches. He said guys would get spit on and just have to lay there and not move.

Did say they'd want to run through a wall for him once it was over though. So at least the speech was good.
