I think I salute the kids who signed here yesterday more than anybody. Things aren't good, but they believe that they can help bring Miami back to greatness. I highly respect that they believe even when things aren't looking good.
We did get some kids that can play for sure - both of the transfers look like they can play here (esp. Asa Martin). Payton is, to me, a future star at WR (IF we can figure out our offense). The defensive signings were legit - I think you've got a bunch of future starters there between K. Smith, Brooks, Harvey, Couch, Huff, Blissett, Munoz...as long as you don't get caught star gazing and see the potential all of those guys have...they're all good signings and good fits for us and what we do on defense. I'm also excited for our Chopper Read version of a punter...that dude looks legit.
The questions are all on offense. How good is Hodges? Can he compete for PT with our trio of TE's we'll have next season (counting Irvin Jr there)? Can Searels coach up the OL that we ended up landing, turn them into ACC-capable players (doubtful, I know)? Can we somehow land any other players that can help on offense between now and NSD 2.0 in February?
I know there are other questions, but those are the ones that are most current, IMO.
I'm not mad about who we've got. Even the projects on the OL are OK takes for me. One can be happy with the kids that have signed here and still be upset at the staff for not pulling other major prospects that we needed to pull in this cycle...and upset at them for the overall state of affairs after a 7-5 season.
