Looking ahead to Ohio state

If we win next week, we’re winning #6.

I said what I said.

Personally, I’m looking to see how our offense does in a relatively quiet stadium, indoors. Their defense is insane, but they haven’t played anyone with our talent, imo.

They have given up 90 plays of 10+ yards all year. 13 games. That’s absolutely insane. It’ll be a **** of a challenge but I’ve said it all season, we will not be overwhelmed on the lines by anyone we play. Taint included. If you can hold up on both lines, you can beat anyone you line up against. We need to play our best game of the season to win but I believe with every fiber of my being we can give them a run. Confidence is a funny thing, and you can’t possibly have more than our boys do right now.

I felt we could beat A&M just by playing CLEAN, not necessarily our best. And I was right. We absolutely played our best on defense, but not on offense or special teams. We need to play our cleanest and best next week.
Some think Georgia is the best out there. All I can say is one game at a time. I agree ohio st is very talented and if we win, it would be epic. Let's enjoy the moment and just take one game at a time. Hopefully Lofton is starting to peak at the right time as a blocker and receiver also. We will need everyone. Our trenches will keep us in every game. Go Canes!

This game is all about which O has the better game plan and executes better.

The defenses are both elite.

The offenses are both susceptible to the day. Dawson needs to call a game that keeps them off balance but avoids the negative plays we had against A&M..he got too cute with A&M but it may work with OSU.

But I hope we test them in the middle/ground game first to see if we can establish that early and make them commit to stopping the run so they don't get gashed. That'll open up the rest of the game.

The defense can tee off on Sayin knowing he can't really run at all so he's going to take some big hits..hopefully we rattle him early and his mind gets racing. He's young and inexperienced and hasn't faced much adversity yet.
This. If we run for 150+ at ~5ypc, like Oregon (gm1) and Michigan did last year and Texas did this year against Taint, our chances to win the game go way way up. Beck wouldn't have to be otherworldly.

The A&M game was the best we have run duo the entire year. Numbers against USF were better, but it was freaking USF. If we finally figured out how to run inside with our personnel this year in game 13 look the **** out, cause we are a much different team than we have shown the entire year.

Am not sure how high I rate our chances of running against OSU - they are very good against the run - but unless Dawson sees something on tape that makes him think he can hit an explosive early in the passing game, I'd prefer we try to punch them in the mouth early instead of eye-candy maxing like we did against A&M early

You can give a **** of a lot of eye candy before just punching them in the mouth.

OSU defense doesn't play well behind the LOS. They're just a very fast, technical, and sound defense. They lead the nation in opponent Red Zone scoring %

Their offensive line is legitimate too. This probably contributes to Sayin's accuracy. But I'm not all that impressed with him.

If Bain, Mesidor, and Co. can pressure him, I believe it will be a long day.

DLine pressure and Dawson/Beck need a masterpiece for us to get W

They have the best lbs and safety in the country, if anything their dline is the weakness

Ohio State is not elite in the trenches at all. Miami will dominate them in the trenches.

Our WRs will have to make contested catches down the field and we have to have some sort of run game.

We shouldn’t have to blitz on defense unless we’re trying to switch it up to speed up his clock.

It will be a low scoring game. First team to 20 likely is the winner.

Contested catches is why CJ is here. This is a game CJ can shine like against Notre Dame. Ohio State corners are a lot like Notre Dame actually, #7 Jermaine Mathews can be had, he can be beat deep by crafty receivers like CJ.

They might be the most talented team in the country. But they're certainly not invincible.

If we had more mentally stable offensive playcalling....I'd call this a game. I just don't think we score the points to win.

Now if the defense come out and makes this the great equalizer and keep the score 0-0, 0-3, maaaybe 10-0....we can pull something out of sheer chaos. But we are most likely going to need 28+ and I don't know where we're going to get it from.
28? Really?..

After watching a lot of Ohio State football and podcast, it’s evident this can be a game where the DTs can completely dominate. They struggled on the interior against Indiana, those struggles resulted in 6 sacks allowed. They even started rolling Sayin to get him away from the interior pressure and we all know that won’t work with Bain and Mesidor on the edges.

This is not a good interior offensive line. Their starter Tegra Tshabola will be out with injury, so they will roll with redshirt freshman Gabe VanSickle.

In an interview before the injury Ryan Day acknowledged they have a right guard issue, so with now having to play the backup to an already bad right guard, it’s safe to say that spot is weak. I can see Scott and Moten living in the backfield during this game.

I believe the defensive line as a whole will dominate, but I expect the DTs to truly shine.
