Looking ahead to Ohio state

Personally, I think OSU is more vulnerable than people think. Their offense is good on paper but struggles to put up points in big games. Seems like they come out sluggish in first halves and turn it on in the 2nd half. But their best win is against that team with P Diddy as their coach, because as we know, week 1 wins don’t count and are a figment of everyone’s imagination since Texas got significantly better as the year moved on. Are they still really good? Yes. But are they invincible? Absolutely not.

They might be the most talented team in the country. But they're certainly not invincible.

I'd play two-high shell and make them beat us on the ground. We'll lose this game if we let Smith and Tate beat us over the top.

Their defense though is insane. Best defense we will face this year, nothing compares. If we score 20, I'd consider it a success.

Keep in mind OSU is most likely going to be rusty. Will take them a quarter to get in rhythm. We worked out a lot of kinks today from the time off. Would ideally like to be up 2 scores at half. Hopefully Damari brown is back for the game but my gut tells me he won’t be

Given that the most they’ve allowed all season is 16 (!!!), I’d say that would be a success

If we win next week, we’re winning #6.

I said what I said.

Personally, I’m looking to see how our offense does in a relatively quiet stadium, indoors. Their defense is insane, but they haven’t played anyone with our talent, imo.

They have given up 90 plays of 10+ yards all year. 13 games. That’s absolutely insane. It’ll be a **** of a challenge but I’ve said it all season, we will not be overwhelmed on the lines by anyone we play. Taint included. If you can hold up on both lines, you can beat anyone you line up against. We need to play our best game of the season to win but I believe with every fiber of my being we can give them a run. Confidence is a funny thing, and you can’t possibly have more than our boys do right now.

I felt we could beat A&M just by playing CLEAN, not necessarily our best. And I was right. We absolutely played our best on defense, but not on offense or special teams. We need to play our cleanest and best next week.

Initial thoughts.

**** them.

Post-initial thoughts:

1. The only team they have played that has a defense like ours is Indiana. UW, MICH, and WISC have good defenses but not elite. Indiana and Miami are top of the food chain elite.

2. They have a “dude” on each level of their defense: DE Curry (11 sacks), LB Reese (6.5 sacks), and of course S Downs. Their defense is “top of the food chain” elite too.

3. Their offense is RB Jackson, WR Smith, and WR Tate. But Smith and Tate are not “gadget” guys like Toney is. They are pure wide receivers. Sayin is obviously accurate with the football. But he is coming off of back to back games with turnovers.

4. Their fans complain a lot that they start off really slow.

It’s going to be a slug fest. But a turnover free Beck, disciplined team, at a neutral site indoors……SPOT THE ******* BALL

I think if we win we at least play for #6.

It’s going to a close game. I just wonder how we generate enough points without a defensive or special teams score. We go in with the sort of gameplan we had today on offense and we’ll score single digits.

They actually play the exact same way we do. I’ve said all year, whether we like it or not, the blueprint is to rely on the defense, hold the ball on offense and keep your defense fresh to win games.

They are the literal slowest team in America on offense. Dead last in pace. DFL. Same **** we do.

We’re #2 in America in time of possession. They are #6. But they’re much more explosive on offense because of JJ and Carnell Tate. But it’ll be a low possession game. It’s kind of interesting how similar the two teams are. Very accurate, high percentage QBs. Elite defenses. Hold the ball, keep your defense fresh, and when they do get out there, absolutely wreck ****. This game is fully on Dawson. Figure out a way to protect Beck, sustain drives, and just put some points up. They don’t like to go fast at all. The line is 42. That’s crazy low for a college game. Bodes well for a dog.

14 points is really the max their defense has given up this year. Last Illinois TD was in garbage time. Their defense is nuts. Texas and Indiana the only teams that had decent success running the ball against them. Hopefully we can do something similar. But Beck needs to be elite. I don't think it's reasonable to expect our defense to hold them under 20 points.
