Look to the Transfer Portal: Discussion thread

I genuinely don't know how you coach these teams anymore.

You find a recruit, develop him and then see him bail at the first opportunity. At least in 'soccer' teams have to pay the club for the privilege - what are you left with in College Football? A reputation as a developer?
That would be good start. Years ago, power 4 teams used to pay those little schools for games. That inventory of games is shrinking as P4 move towards 9 conference games and generally 1 other game against a fellow P4.

A nice thought would be if a P4 team takes a G5 or lesser player out of the portal, they owe that school 100k. If you have 10 players go to P4, that’s a million more for your program, which would come in handy as you don’t get that extra P4 away game to get a little extra money.

I use 100k as an example. Maybe it’s 50k, or maybe it’s 150k.

Isn't that what coaches have always done?

I think that is Mario’s idea in HS recruiting getting a certain cultural fit. You don’t worry about this later. Maybe I’m wrong, who knows….
