Look to the Transfer Portal: Discussion thread

Not that it means 💩, but I say sign ‘em both. Adding Stone and Watson would definitely solve the depth issue from a numbers perspective.

Also increases the chances of having 1-2 of those kind of cats in a couple years(hopefully less) that we’re wishing on all of the stars would hop in the portal right now. I’m not a mathematician, but five lottery tickets would present a greater chance of winning than three, right?

I don’t wanna hear **** about the cost, make it happen. If any program occupying the space that we’re DYING to return to were faced with the same dilemma, they’d get it done. Y’all have given Mario everything he’s asked for thus far. Is this where the Mas Brothers, Soffers, and those of their ilk draw the line or is Mario not imploring for their aid towards getting us out of the Sahara?

If it’s the latter, they oughta tie Mario to the goalpost at the Hard Rock, and let us pay $100 to line up to slap the **** outta him. We’d raise enough NIL bread to sign Chris Jones. If it’s neither, then I don’t know what to say.

And news flash for y’all out there in CISland holding your breath for that preseason AA and/or consensus Day 1 grade dude to hop in the portal. You’re more likely to be found passed out and holding your nuts when the portal closes. Wish for Peter Woods in one hand and **** in the other, and tell me what you get first.

Sign them both, have some faith in Coach Lewis, grow some nuts and let the chips fall where they may. If coach is the success that we all hope he’ll be, that room could be a strength down the line…
This. Sign both and show we serious

Get both Stone and the Syracuse kid and mix in some nasty 3-4 or even 3-3-5 looks with guys like Lightfoot, Cole and Pickett coming from an outside lb spot.

Boffum > Watson > Stone

That’s my preference but I’d take Stone right now and call it a day at DT recruiting. My preference for Watson over Stone is simply based on actual production as a frosh, not potential. Stone was outplayed by his classmate (Jayden Jackson), who many on here scoffed at when he briefly committed to us. Jackson was a 3-star viewed by most of CIS as expendable. Yet, he outplayed Stone, the 5-star.

Again, if we have the chance to take Stone…do it and get back on the phones with potential WR portal entries.

This would be very hard to pull off considering several coaches in America are after them ....the price to get both would likely hurt getting a top safety, LB and WR ...I can see a team like Oregon with unlimited NIL doubt Miami would try to do that imo...also I can't see two premium portal DTs committing to same school with decent depth already...

Mario literally said we're a four front and we have to get away from the odd fronts... Again he said, that hamstrung some talent we had last year...

A 5 star player who transfers after not playing his freshman season usually never turns out good. I believe at the absolute most you offer him half of what you were coming out of high school. It's very risky but if the money is right it might be worth it.
He played and contributed pretty much exactly as much as Justin Scott did for us last year. He also had as many sacks and tackles for loss as Watson did at Syracuse. This is a very high upside type of player that you usually only see at the elite schools.
