Look to the Transfer Portal: Discussion thread

Miami has to do better to win a ACC championship imo....also, this could be a sign our NIL ain't it no more....no commits during visits like NIL big dog programs are showing...
We’re going up against teams who won just as much as us and have just as good of recruiters on staff. Plus they have more money. It’s not unreasonable to think that lsu tamu Oregon ole Miss have more cash than us. In fact you would think that without question. Maybe not ole Miss

The portal seems to be something where you have to be able to do your evals and then act quickly and it’s something Mario doesn’t do.

Maybe I’m wrong but that’s the way it seems to me cause it seems every weekend we have all these top kids in and Mario doesn’t seem to be able to close on them at that time. Every kid says “ Miami is great and I love the place” but next thing you know he’s gone elsewhere.Throw whatever best shot you have to throw while the kid is on the “ visit high”.make him feel like he is getting an amount that won’t be matched and don’t let him leave.ABC…”always be closing”.

The portal is a place where you make your play and do it quickly before you have 5-6 teams you have to contend with instead of an initial 1-2 especially when the longer it goes the more money it’s going to cost cause every other team will figure out the money you’re throwing at a particular kid.

Maybe I’m wrong but it just seems to me that the teams doing the best in the portal are closing kids while they’re on campus….
Key is support staff needs to have a library or stash of evaluations in advance. Imagine programs are doing it. Can’t wait for a player to enter portal and then evaluate.

If Blay is the DT I'd be cool with just him. I'd add 1 RB. Otherwise that list is just right.
Issue is one injury to the DT room and Safety room and were back to square one. Getting 2 of each is the smart move.

I forgot to add LB to the list which they have shown interests in adding one.

With Brantley, Lucas and Brockermeyer crystal balled here needs are as follows:

QB1
1 TE
1 slot wr

2 DT
1 nickle
1 Safety

Agreed and if I’m prioritizing those needs it would look as follows:

1. DT#1
2. QB
3. Corner/ Nickel
4. Slot WR
5. DT #2
6. Safety
7. TE
8. RB

Something like that..just have a hard time seeing 8 more players transferring to Miami given how slow things are compared to other teams.

I think we have young depth at DT. We just don't know how ready they are to make impact. Moten, Blay, Scott should be a good top 3. We can take a 2nd DT, RB, and LB who solid depth. I'm just glad MC finally realizes the urgency of the secondary cuz he's attacking it big time right now.

I disagree, QB is by far #1 priority.

We open with Notre Dame, then we have Florida in week 2. We play Louisville and @SMU. We better be able to score.

I never want to see Jaden Harris play another down for this team. For me its

1. QB1
2. DT1
3. Safety
4. Nickel Corner
5. Slot WR
6. LB
7. DT2
8. TE

9. KR/PR/RB5
