Intel says offense is focusing on the run today. Staff thinks Pitt cannot handle our speed on the edges and making an effort to exploit this. If I wasn’t drunk in Bangkok and we weren’t playing Pitt I probably wouldn’t post this... whatever. Let’s hammer them today. Go Canes!

They play with 7-8 in the box and play a lot of man coverage which means big plays for our receivers. I expect for Miami to air it out actually....
Pitt scheme is to stop the run. We have to throw the ball today effectively

I think we'll test the waters with the run, but no way we abandon the pass. It's the passing game that will open the running game for us, in my opinion. Now, IF we can run early, we'll hit some deep passes and slaughter them.

Pitt has the 4th best rush defense we've faced this year and the worst pass defense. Only Syracuse hit the quarterback less than Pitt does.

Not very hard to figure out where we're going to focus.

I really don’t know what Pitt does on the defensive side of the ball, but I was told the “challenge” today was to establish the run and to hit the edges early and often. So TIFWIW, but yea.

Our O is at its best when we throw to set up the run.

Expect us to throw to set up the run game.

Isn’t that the goal every game?

I read they are good against run and poor against pass. And like post above they load the box. I actually think our WR group was better at beating man coverage last year. Don’t see our guys running free to offer against man. Would like to see us take a jump up in that category today. Go Cans

Pitt has the 3rd best rush defense in the coastal, 4th in rush TDs against, 4th in yards per attempt.

They have the worst pass defense in the entire conference, given up the most pass TDs, worst passer rating against, 2nd to last in sacks, 2nd to last in tackles for loss, last in forced fumbles.

They're also the worst in the conference on defending 3rd downs, which is helpful for our anemic 3rd down offense.

They've given up more 30+ yard plays than anyone in the ACC,

So again, this word comes from a player. That’s what they were told their “challenge” was today. Maybe that was to psyche them up, idk. But they expect to grind it today. I don’t care how we win. I just want a win!! Go Canes!!

First play should be the same one we did to open the second half against UNC and hit Thomas or Harley deep

I mean I don't doubt it but seems silly to play into their strength. Eh... if it doesn't work we shouldn't have too much trouble passing on them. If they have trouble stopping the run it will be a very long day for them.

44-10

Could be wrong but I think.Richts goal.every game is to establish the run.. Seems to.be part of his dna. This season.to accomplish that establishing.the pass seems to come first before the run.game gets going. I will be pleasantly surprised if this game is any different
