One Miami staff member said it became obvious back in 2016 the Hurricanes had to find a difference-maker at quarterback, but the offensive staff scoffed each time it was mentioned.

Very scary and telling. Not to beat a dead horse.

Every program in the country needs a "difference maker at QB".

Even the top teams in the country - Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Georgia - all now have difference makers at the QB position. There are no low end game manager types among them. All high end, 5* QBs.

Not going after Reason when Richt left UGA was a complete mistake

Absolutely. That never settled well with me. Always felt like he didn't want to hurt UGA by taking him.
I was told Eason contacted Richt AGAIN when he transferred too. If he had signed Eason out of high school, Richt would still be here. If he had taken Eason as a transfer, he'd still be here. Its not even because Eason is that great. Just doubtful he would've been worse than who we had.

Another article trying to play on the amnesia of some people. Of course it was obvious in 2016, especially whennit was obvious the read option was the offense we would be running, but that's why in 2017 coach richt signed perry and cade, but brad was the starter and coach richt expected brad to be back in 2017, especially after winning the 1st bowl game in 10yrs, but brad rolled out as if we had just won the national championship. And its already on record, coach richt never wanted to start rosier at all, but it ended up working out in 2017 anyway. The article would make sense if the staff member was refering to the 2017 qb signee's. Just trying to add unfounded drama to the article.

But isn't that before the y enrolled Perry and Williams, both 4 stars. The real chilling comparison is that Perry was the number 3 quarterback in his glass, behind Tua and Mond at A&M. How did that work out?

Could QB coaching (or the lack of it) at The U, been the problem ?

I don't get threads like this.

Are we supposed to believe the staff sat around and said, "You know what? I think it would be a bad idea to bring in a difference-maker at QB. Let's see if we can win by deliberately not having a good QB"????

Come on.

Perry was the number 3 QB on what site?

This. The staff left something to be desired, but I can't believe they agreed they didn't want a "difference maker" at QB. Sounds like sour grapes or fakenews reporting. Richt was a moribund soul but he wasn't a mouth-breathing saboteur as some paint him to be. There is more context to this or it is just bullchit. To think otherwise, leaves you with an IQ slightly higher than an impaired aardvark.
