Never even played the game. JJ captained a national championship team. Coached great teams under Chuck Fairbanks, Frank Broyles and Johnny Majors. Butch coached on a national title team and was the DC of a Super Bowl champ. Both had pedigrees.

Diaz's claim to fame was following **** Amato to NC State.

I'll give Diaz a fair shake as HC, but the bolded part was also trotted out there when we hired our last four coaches as well. It's not the 1980's anymore. The athletic dept doesn't really deserve a heck of a lot of latitude the way the last 15 years has gone.

Bringing the JJ, Erickson, and Butch hires into this is ridiculous. This has to stop.

Those days are Looooong gone. That was a different era. There is no comparison.

Here we go again with this bull chit.

So that we’re clear, this OP is the biggest sack of bull chit.

1. Jimmy did have football experience as a player (a National Champion for one), but most importantly, JJ was a HEAD MUTHA FCKIN COACH BEFORE HE TOOK OVER MIAMI.

2. Erickson was a HEAD MUTHA FCKIN COACH BEFORE HE TOOK OVER MIAMI.

3. Butch learned from JIMMY MUTHA FCKIN JOHNSON BOTH COLLEGIATELY AND PROFESSIONALLY BEFORE HE TOOK OVER MIAMI.

Diaz is not even in the same boat. The last 1st time coach we hired came from a successful regime and that was Coker which is y we had immediate success. As time went on, Coker became lazy and complacent, so what did we do? We hired someone from his staff who learned how to be LAZY AND COMPLACENT!

You do not hire someone from a failed regime. The likelihood of success are unbelievablely low.

Maybe Diaz will be an anomaly like a Dabo. But looking at Richt’s coaching limb, the odds are incredibly stacked against him.

Doesn't matter he played the game. Go look at Belichick's pedigree. Special Assistant at Baltimore 1 year--won division. Assistant at Denver 1 year--won division. Long time assistant under Parcells--two Super Bowls.

Again, Diaz has never been on at a program that even won their conference except as a GA at FSU. Almost 20 years of mediocrity as a paid coach.
