Look at the commit list Al left..

Golden never seemed to have too hard a problem getting high level recruits to commit. His problem was being able to keep them on NSD. Golden / Miami was being used by these kids, something I hope Mark Richt will not allow.
With Richt a Miami offer will hold significance now. I felt like our offers were viewed like an UCF or FIU offer.

exactly and people don't see this, a bunch of gems not high level talent. Shannon left high level talent on the team. Yes, he stopped recruiting but just like the poster said earlier if golden was still here we would of dropped about 2 more games and we would of been fighting off FIU again for scraps

he also had an issue on not recruit full classes. he would completely ignore some position units we were lacking depth at. that year we only brought in kamalu despite not having an dt's was ridiculous that he could be so stupid.

We all agree Golden was a disaster of a coach. But he walked into a far worse situation than what Richt is coming into. At QB, he had Jacory, Snickers, and Spencer Freaking Whipple. That's all. Richt gets Kaaya, Rosier, Sherriefs, and Vinny Jr. with Jack (and maybe Eason) on the way.

I dont think it was worse for Golden. I Mean Buddy HAD A Roster FULL of NFL talent! I just think Shannon stopped recruiting cause he knew he was gonna get fired and when Shapiro got jailed he knew **** was gonna hit the fan when no one was willing to help him.. talent on the team was just as good smh. Our defense was stacked and I thought we would've balled out the year everyone got suspended. this ni99a saved us from Lack of institutional control.. knowing he was gonna get canned. That's integrity folks

Richt is bad news for Jimbo. He is a better football coach then Jimbo, first off. Second our backyard will not be getting raided like it has been. To think the last 2 years we should have beat Fsu with Al Golden & inferior talent tells you all you need to know about Jumbo. Bottom line: We have a REAL HC who will land REAL recruits.

Elite if you're playing in a 7 on 7 tournament, Mark please bring the big boys

Jack Allison QB 6-5/181
Sam Bruce WR 5-8/179
Tyler Byrd ATH 5-11/160
Jawon Hamilton RB 5-10/187
Reginald Henderson WR 6-4/198
Evan Hinson ATH 6-5/210
Travis Homer RB 5-9/187
Michael Irvin WR 6-2/200
Deion Jackson DB 6-1/170
Joseph Jackson DE 6-6/245
Dionte Mullins WR 5-11/183
Jaquwan Nelson DE 6-4/230
Desmond Phillips WR 5-11/170
Mike Pinckney LB 6-0/213
Shaquille Quarterman LB 6-0/239
James Wiggins DB 5-10/185
Cedrick Wright ATH 5-9/180

This is a huge problem in recruiting. Kids getting scholarship offers and have never played a down of tackle football. Coaches spend way to much time at these events

So Golden had a better roster than Coker left RS? I was at the last game at the OB and regardless if you like RS or not you cant say Golden EVER had a roster that bad.Golden ran off guys,RS inherited Kirby Freeman!

Im not saying the last three coaches recruited well, **** Uncle Larry had the punter catching ball in the spring.

Al isn't unemployed imo bc he couldn't recruit. Sure he lost some playmakers. They would have covered up some of his mistakes. Larry Scott would've lost 1-2 games top this year.

Golden's issue was he thought he was smarter than everybody else. And his loyalty to **** coaches bcuz they were his buddies was ultimately his downfall

But Miami has NEVER, had an issue recruiting skill players.

Did you miss that one year under Coker where we basically got one skill position player? And then remember trotting out our punter a few years later at WR in practice cause of WR depth issues?
