Lonnie Walker to Denver

I don’t think Peyton Watson will end up on Denver to start the season so there’s a solid chance he’ll be reunited with Bruce Brown

Happy he’s back in the league regardless but I hope he didn’t replace BB lol.

Spots are getting tight around this time but I think having a ring will make it easier for him to find a team if Denver chooses to go in another direction

Denver should be doing whatever they have to do to get rid of that Braun contract and bring back Watson.

Agreed, but they should’ve never gave him that deal and instead let him test RFA.

To make matters worse, they don’t own a lot of their future picks even if someone wanted to extort them to take on that Braun contract. But I don’t think anybody would dare touch that.

I saw a mock trade where they get Jaimie jaquez back while the bucks get Watson and Zeke Naji to ease their books a bit; another one had them swapping Watson for Derrick jones jr. Denver wants a first from either side but I don’t buy that will happen.

I think they tried to trade Aaron Gordon and Cam Johnson or Christian Braun for Jaylen brown and Boston wasn’t interested in either package. They’re stuck with Braun for another two years minimum

The owners convinced their fanbase that the old GM & HC were super problematic when in fact both of them setup well enough for the next guys who fumbled their future.

To trade MPJ with a first attached then immediately sign Christian Braun to that crazy contract last summer was a shining example of roster management malpractice.

There are a few teams with space and a big enough TPE to fit him in I think they could find a way to make it work, but it’s definitely tough. I still have no idea why they fired Malone. The GM I understood, him and Malone were so at odds with one another but BOTH was insane to me, and I think Malone was a **** of a coach.

I just hate to see them waste Jokic with a **** roster. They should’ve been better this year tbh, but the constant injuries just took a toll

Yeup they finished the season superstrong, winning a dozen in a row. I really think Peyton Watson could’ve been a major difference-maker for them because he can create his own shot now. And of course Aaron Gordon is indispensable but he keeps getting hurt.

Yet Minnesota was injured too so Denver could’ve seized an opportunity. Jokic is still a monster, and i think Murray has received too much blame from the fanbase rather than directing it at a chaotic ownership decisions. Gobert finally figuring out how to defend and sometimes lockup Jokic is an underdiscussed story; he’s been pivotal in the Timberwolves beating Denver twice.

Denver’s heliocentric offense runs into problems when Jokic has to take 20+ shots; because he doesn’t want to do that and he hasn’t been able hit enough jumpers either. They’re icing the pick and pops knowing Jokic wont shoot right away & force him into taking a lot of late contested turnaround fades. On the 1on1s, he’s forcing jokic to his left which has made him uncomfortable.

The reason i don’t blame Calvin Booth is because he did a phenomenal job drafting but Michael Malone preferred his core guys which led to later problems. Connolly is an elite GM, but **** Booth reloaded the perfect pieces around Jokic. Malone won a ring so not faulting his methods because clearly there was pressure on him to win again too. I blame the owners. Then ofc, playing Braun/justin holiday/westbrook over Watson was usually justified because Watson hadn’t made his leap yet but also inflated Braun’s value and hid Watson’s potential which led to the state they’re in now. I see why they beefed so often because Braun knew his job much better than Watson early-on.

Spencer Jones? That was a Booth signing. Collin Gillespie? Booth. Both undrafted free agents. Collin would later leave to the Suns because Malone favored Reggie Jackson as the backup point guard when they were trying to repeat; an understandable coaching move yet greatly detrimental down the line. The nuggets have badly needed a second ball handler that can shoot, facilitate and defend.

Really the only bad move imo was the Nnaji extension; and that was only 8mill AAV. Julian Strawther was a good pick. He didn’t overpay/match for Bruce Brown which was the right move. His first draft he took Christian Braun as a win-now college guy from a great coach and he took a super high upside dude in Peyton Watson who was a one and done who averaged 3.3 points per game—that’s a great scouting job done because they’d seen him in HS + on team usab. Now we see other guys like Aday Mara leave Mick Cronin’s program and look much better.

They just replaced Jalen Pickett w Lonnie Walker but Pickett wasn’t a bad pick either. Hunter Tyson was absolutely a bad pick but that’s the only miss & he was taken after Braun, Watson, & Pickett. Daron Holmes tore his Achilles so that’s still tbd as he was Nnaji’s replacement.
 
I'm here in Denver and tickets are pretty cheap when it's a meh team they're playing. I catch a few games at Ball Arena. The Heat games are always packed even when they suck. Everyone has a hard-on for Miami in every sport. Fans here know Nuggets' days of running the West are done. They'll be happy with a 4 seed.
