Lockette gone?

I get Lockette on the staff someway somehow. He carries alot of weight in South Florida.

The more asst coaches Manny hires that are respected in the south florida high school coaching circles the better.

Its gonna be tough to bring him in because he can only really coach at this level tight ends and running backs. Fields is a respected recruiter and Hickson just landed the best backfield in the country and will be tough to fire. You guys always **** on hiring coaches that have no experience coaching the position they are being hired for yet want this guy coaching linebackers when he has never coached linebackers at this level. He seems overqualified for an off the field role but Taeggart already has hired a running backs and tight ends coach as well. Not sure if he where he fits there either.

I don't think it would. I'd just rather have him and make Patke an analyst (or, preferably, redundant altogether).

He's a good recruiter with deep connections locally & would make huge dividends in keeping some of our talent home.

And don't look now, but Corey Bell just worked Rumph over on the trail for two CB's that have family ties with Miami, he's actually a good recruiter too.

Look, yall want us to stop missing on locals prospects right? You gotta bring in guys like Lockette, or maybe we should just stick with the Patke's & Stubbelfields of the world & see what that yields us...

Not tough at all, fire Patke hire Lockette as Special Teams coach & let Baker coach the LB's.

Then move Stroud to Cheif Of Staff & find a DL coach.

Can he be a recruiting upgrade over a guy like Patke? Sure, I guess. But, time has shown the last thing we need is a room full of sofla connected recruiting guys. It doesn't show that it can work and we've hired the best of them before (except maybe lockette). Now, you can point to the HC all you want, but hiring a staff full of these guys ain't gonna move the meter. Besides, I'd like to have a guy who can recruit nationally (like a seider).

Seider ain't coming here, so we should do the next best thing.

Staying status quo does nothing but compound the situation.

Lockette would do very good here as a recruiter, that's all that matters.

better than bell, Harris and cooney? I know people love cooney but he dropped tyrique and the other guys might have been worth 1 kid per year. Jmo. I dont think lockette will help with the sofla blue chipper so maybe he’s better at evaluating talent? Maybe you’re right.
